do you guys think after the mainquest all the dragons will be gone? or can they still be a creature that roams? if they are gone i'll be sad i still would like to see dragons after the MQ

I really hope they aren't gone, as it'll be kind of a bummer for those that want to do the main quest right away. However, it does lead one to wonder why they remain, so I guess we're just gonna have to find out. I for hope they stay, to some degree at least.

I'm not so sure he's their leader so much as he's just one of the biggest and baddest of them. I guess I'll find out in a couple of months or so.

I'm am almost certain that Todd Howard said that dragons remain after the main quest is done. Unfortunately, because most interviews these days are video clips, it is way too much of a hassle to look up a source for you.

My theory is the Jills will disappear, I think the Jills is the name for Alduins servant dragons... Anyway I think they will disappear but normal dragons (Fire, Frost etc...) will stay.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the way Dragons came back wasn't like the Daedras in Oblivion; Portals open, baddies get out.

Alduin probably just found or made an egg or something (he's a god after all) and reinserted Dragons into the natural habitat of Tamriel. After the MQ is dealt with I see no reason why the dragons would stop reproducing unless if someone actually hunts them to extinction like last time.

Prob. there will be a point in the MQ when the world is most populated with dragons, nice moment to stop the MQ and start exploring and owning flying lizards.

early in the MQ you see that Alduin uses a chant/shout in draconic to resurrect a dragon, which can only be done if the dragon's soul is intact (ie not absorbed by a dragonborn) so i assume that other dragons can do the same

I have gone through the whole MQ and dragons still appear, so yeah, they just keep coming
