You know how Farkas is not the brains of the family? Well the following gives good reason to that.

We are fighting Forsworn outside slightly up the mountain. Farkas thought it was the best time to do some Alchmey. Here is about seven guys on us, he stops combat, wonders over to the alchmey table and starts trying to make potions. Then a guy comes up and smacks Farkas on his back with a sword and Farkas screams, "I'm going to kill you!"

I'll be honest, i didnt expect farkas to be capable of alchemy

Me either. I have caught him a few times doing alchemy in our house.

He only seems so dull from the drugs he makes and uses.
