In Alftand Dwarven Spider Workers do not attack... Only foll

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 8:00 pm

I'm in Alftand Animonculory now and since I entered the ruins I realized that these little Dwemers were following me and not attacking. So I just kept walking surrounded by my 3 new friends. After a while they disappeared. Then I met another one, also friendly. I made a few screenshots and it liked it. It came near me, very curious to see what kind of animal I could be and then walked away.

Right now, it still follows me like a dog. Very odd...

Wow. I've always killed them on sight after the first encounter 599 hours ago, but I may wait in the future. :P ...but that could be one of those new patch assimilation things and I haven't (and probably won't) installed 1.5.

You don't have that particular staff that controls them do you?

And in this set of ruins, did you see any of the workers fixing the ruins? i came across a few on both my characters that were hitting the wall or a rock pile with their claws...

I was under the impression that the Spider Control Rod only worked on the one in the dwemer museum. Am I incorrect?

Wierd but cool. Maybe they're following the spider control rod, if you have it?

I play vanilla and never added anything neither used comands on my PC. It's my second playthrough, ,level 64, and I just realized later after I killed the Kaajit after entering. I checked in my journal my crime stat. to be sure I hadn't a crime and realized i had an assault. So I reloaded and no, the assault was for a spider. But I thought it was crazy as I was attacked by 2 spiders. So I kept going being careful not to attack the first. Soon I found a Spider Worker in a corner, non agressive. I ignored it and saw another one. They both followed me. Then another one. Those 3 were following me and after I passed over those machines pushing you away they disappeared. So I continued and met another one very friendly coming and going around me. Very cute it is. I made a few screenshots and continued. Suddenly I was attacked on my back. I turned and saw a Spider. I killed it. My little Spider Worker was watching me with no fear and kept a friendly attitude toward me. So we both continued. I paused the game.....
Now I see that only the Dwemer Spider will attack you and not the "Dwemer Spider WORKER". That's why I got the assault in my statistics.
Remember Morrowind, in the Egg Mines, the Kwama Workers were peaceful and ignoring you. Here it's the same but they follow you... Today I'll continue but in meantime try and see what happens with the darwen spider workers. :wavey:

Ah. Weird. :P

This is my first TES game, but I'm considering getting Morrowind and Oblivion though.

And to answer to you all about this spider control rod, I don't even know what it is. I just play in a normal way (vanilla) without adding anything. Never used control comands. It's all natural and you all can go and see by yourself. As I said before, dwemer spiders will attack you but not the Dwemer spider workers. Wait until they attack you first. Then you'll see non agressive ones. Don't harm them if you read Spider worker, even if there is a red dot. You'll see how funny they are acting with you. Don't be afraid of their legs when they come to touch you..

About that whacking; i believed them to have gone insane or something, maybe they're malfunctioning. Banging against a wall repeatedly does not seem in any way related to reparations :D

In fact yes I did. It was using its first legs against part of an old wall trying to repair it. In fact exactly like a spider does in RL when repairing its cobweb. I saw it a few times in a garden. Very interesting indeed.
