all skills max out and ranger combat armour

Post » Tue May 10, 2011 3:43 pm

why can't you max out all your skills in this like in fallout 3 , it would make the game a bit better because you don't have to watch where you put all your skill points . And also why can't you buy ranger combat armour? , i went through the game thinking that i could get it eventually like in fallout 3 with the power armour because its the most known armour from the game .
Also a dlc with alot of extras for each faction would be awesome :D

I don't know about that first one.

As for the rest:
Spoiler
Since the 1.02 patch, the black Ranger Combat Armour can be found at the NCR safehouse.
Also, since the patch, all of the other safehouses are pretty decently stocked with various armour and weapons, making it pretty worth while to up your rep with the factions.

i hope you are being sarcastic.

being able to fully level up is stupid

you cant buy ranger combat armor for the same reason you cant buy a medal of honor, or an olympic medal

There is ranger combat armor in the game. You may have to research how to get it.

yeah OMNISUPER Characters are fun for a while, but get boring quick.

as for the armor, i do wish the game let you work your way through the ranks in each faction, earning new things with each step

You should see the TES forum if you mention wanting some form of specialization or bonus for sticking with a specific skillset.

(off topic)I can kinda understand Fallout 3 after you have been to every location and done all the quests but oblivion?I dont know i could never get bored of that game iv beat it a lot of times its impossible to do everything.there are so many locations its crazy.not to mention all the quests its never ending.and the game world changes.Fallout is a game but the elder scrolls is another universe you see through your tv.
(on topic)On Fallout 3 you could become to good with the broken steel add on a high int. and if you waited to get the skill bobble heads you could choose the almost perfect perk then get the bobble heads making your S.P.E.C.I.A.L. skills all ten then with a high int. from the begining any of your skills that werent 100 already was almost then with all your S.P.E.C.I.A.L. 10 any of your skills that weren't 100 would become 100.

Oblivion isn't that big at all. I did every single thing and explored everywhere in under 150 hours. There really isn't much unless you call yet another cookie cutter dungeon full of bandits something "new" each time you fight it.

It does not even matter, you raise level in Oblivion by raising your class major skills that are raised by using them ... its very easy to level some skills (only a few are "harder", well not harder to do but require far more grind) and its also easy to break the system by picking a class that have the major skills you dont intent to use as the level scaling will fail to notice your lv1 Herbalist have 100 in Blades, Heavy Armor and Destruction.

Fallout uses SPECIAL that is the reverse, in order to raise skills you have to level up and you level up by gaining XP and the skill points you gain uses a formula that makes it at a "somewhat" fixed rate so you cannot have a lv1 character with 100 in Guns as the system does not allow such.

Fallout 3 broken SPECIAL (to a extent) by doing two things, perks that raised skills and we gain a perk per level and how many skill raising book were lying around.

I hate video games that allow your character to be a god. I am ridiculously happy that they don't allow that in Fallout New Vegas.

Edit: unless it's some sort of 'sims' type game. If that's the case then i shall choose who lives and dies :flame:

How did you max all your skills in F3? From what I recall, I didn't think you could...

Edit:

I'll point out that I never went hunting skill books and tended not to go through every location like an auditor...so maxing all skills was never a goal of mine.

I presume that they did it by putting int up to 9 at the start and immediately going for the Int Bobblehead, then went skill book hunting.

Mmmmm.....sounds reasonably workable, kind of turns the game into something mechanical though, still, each to their own.

As one's spoiler tags mentioned, there's a place for getting Ranger Combat Armor without murdering a ranger. But yeah I'm in agreement with the others here... why would you want/need to max out everything? It's supposed to be a roleplaying game, you're playing a role. I guess you want your role to be "supreme overlord of all living things", but it's highly unlikely a courier, sent to deliver a package and left for dead, would become a master lockpicker, genius doctor, computer wiz, sharpshooter/marksman with all types of weapons, world class martial artist, super spy/ninja and outdoorsman extraordinaire. That said, the next DLC will raise the level cap by 5, so you'll be able to get closer to your goal of unbalanced mortal demigod.

Well, that's kind of the point of these games (as you may have seen with how amazingly passionate people are about losing 40 hours of gameplay and having to start over, or being angry about not being able to continue maxing out your character and taking a fine-toothed comb to the wastes after the credits roll). They become less about a fun pick up and play gaming experience to some people, and more of a second full-time job. I sometimes wish they didn't have counters in games to see how long you've played them, for me personally it's just depressing. "You've spent 60 hours not working out, not spending time with friends, not cleaning your place, not improving your actual real-life abilities to do certain things, not reading/learning about things that actually happened". But whatever, if I didn't waste them walking around a video game collecting little coins that you can barely see, to give to some weird robot in a factory... well, I'd probably waste it doing something equally useless to society :)

Whats the point of even having a skill system for character development if you can just max out everything? It doesn't make alot of sense.

FO:NV forces you to play a human character, not a god. Like all humans, you have strengths and weaknesses. If you don't like it then just use cheats, it seems like that would make the game more fun for you anyway.

You can get pretty close if you plan ahead (and the DLC will make it easier) but you cannot max everything. With the exception of some Perks that require 90 Skills, though, there's not really any need except to see those 100s and 10s up there. With the added magazines and the Comprehension Perk, 80 is the new 100.

Have you played a character up to Level 30 yet? The experience I had was that a level 30 character in New Vegas, played wisely, is almost unbeatable. While you might miss the fun of seeing perfect SPECIALS and Skills, you'll find you don't really need them.

Oh, and as you have probably guessed from all the kind responses you got, a lot of players enjoy creating specialized characters rather than going for the jack of all trades. The game supports this approach. F3 supported the latter.

I like your DLC idea, except the NCR already has enough content. The others could use some added time. I'd like to do more with the Khans, myself.

Since just because it's allowed you're forced to do it, right? Well, in Fallout you are. But that's a problem with the levelling system. If they changed it so you had to push a button in the pip-boy to activate the "level up" dialog you could stay at a low level and have as big a challenge as you wanted.

The only reason I agree with the OP is because a game like this prides itself on options, and thats why the fans like it, so the option should be there. Just because you wouldnt use the option doesn't mean it shouldn't be included. I haven't done hardcoe yet, that doesn't mean I don't want it in the game.
