All These Acronyms!

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:13 pm

I've been reading up on Skyrim lately and found my self confused. It seems as if everyone uses these weird acronyms their responses. Things such as IMO and AA. If someone could just give me the meanings to these things that would be great, and if there are more just list them out.

What does it mean?

It's starting to look like a triple acronym.

IMO means "in my opinion", AA means http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spatial_anti-aliasing.

IMO: That means "In my opinion." A variation is IMHO ("In my humbled opinion").
AA: If you picked this up in the Skyrim boards, I'm going to guess...Anti-aliasing? It's a visual setting in a lot of game that smooths the edges of objects, making the graphics look more crisp.

I always thought IMHO was "In my honest opinion".

OP-Original poster or Overpowered

Also possible interpretations "opening post" or "original post". "OP" is used to refer either to the first post in a thread, or to the poster of the first post in the thread. For example, you (waymer13) are the OP of this thread.

These both annoy me, so much.
I think it's the caps, because I always read that as if the person were drawing out their words for effect.

The second one especially.
*In Myy Humble Opinion*, people should just talk humbly if they are so humble.
[] and honestly if that is the case.

I'm pretty certian AA is anti-aircraft. In case you haven't heard, gamesas and Activision decided to combine forces to make CoD: Skyrim

I'm reporting you for alliteration abuse.

And then to get rid of the acronyms I am going to start a campaign for people to talk in full sentences, backed by the complete thought committee, and promoted by the foundation for social interaction.

I always i laugh when people use honest in that context. It's like saying "honestly" before something I.e. "honestly, I think...." I always want to interrupt them and say " no, please lie to me" :P

Maybe you should start a trend for starting exasperated-sounding sentences with "dishonestly, ..."! It would be a great idea, along the same lines as an occasional indulgence of signing off with "my insincere lack of regards", for instance. :teehee:

What really annoys the hell out of me is whenever someone mentions the game SC2, there's at least three games that come to mind that it could be and two of them are in the same genre. And then there's all the times I see a MW2 thread, I'm like "Sweet! A Mechwarrior 2.... Oh, it's that stupid game." <_<
