Alright Bethesda, WTF!

I have tried and tried to complete at least one play-through but my patients have worn thin. I cant even remember how many times Ive had to reload a previous save that has set me back hours in the game because of bug after bug. Im finally to the point that I think Im just gonna trade the game in and say eff you guys from here on out. Not that I even matter compared to millions of people who buy your products but hopefully if theres enough people like me out there whos willing to speak out against your BS than maybe it'll give you some motivation to do something about your horrible f@#%_ up.

Oh yay, did your patch even do anything aside from making the game worse (BOS abbandond bunker) cause I didnt see any change
Thanks letting obsidian ruin a perfectly good game.

Well, if you fed your patients more often they might not be so thin.

Also, if you saved more than once every couple hours then you would not get set back hours, only minutes. I'm on my second play-through (the first was 72 hours) about 20 hours in and I've yet to get stuck by a game ending bug. Sure, I've been hit with the upgraded ED-E does nothing bug and not being able to complete the entire BoS quest line bug, but I still finished the game. I saved a lot and in all the right places (Always save before entering a vault or large dungeon in case something goes wrong).

Ya see, that's because I'm smart, I have common sense. Not that I'm calling you stupid with no common sense because that would get me suspended for flaming. I'm just saying that a little preparation goes a long way when dealing with a game that can not only bug out on you, but screw you over in other ways that are working as intended. So save often, in more than 2 slots and FFS...

TURN OFF AUTO-SAVE.

or.....

hes talking about the same thing that happened to me:

i had 25 different saves, got the "the downloadable content is no longer available" error, tried to load a save- freezes while loading. only have one file i can use to load my game, and its 5 hours before my last save.

even if i try to play from there, (which i tried) it will act like it saves the game but when i go to load the save, it freezes.

this is why many of us are saying the game is unplayable.

because for us, it is.

i have auto save turned off... i save atleast every 20-30 minutes and have an absurd amount of game saves... but i too have to go back many hours because a mission wont work... all just to find that another mission that i did complete between these to saves no longer works that originally did ( if that makes sense). Its almost like trying to find the correct order in which to do missions so that they dont get locked out.

if your not far in the game, i highly recommend getting all the companions asap. then doing their personal side mission asap. You might actually get to do some of them... im just glad boone's and ed-e's worked out cus i think they are the best combo (especially if you give boone the unique gauss rifle.)

If that's the case then that svcks for him. He gave no indication that it was a game save corruption issue. The way I read it, because the way he wrote it, is that he reverted over and over due to bugs. I have had to do this myself. I've had to revert to an earlier save so that I could kite Caleb into Freeside so I wouldn't have to wear that silly hat. I had to get an ending that wasn't ideal for my toon because I couldn't complete the BoS quest line allowing them to side with me and the NCR (OH NOES I couldn't get the powers armor!). On my current (2nd) play through I had to leave ED-E behind in favor of Rex because he bugged after being upgraded. I could have gone back 20 min to a prior save and just kept him without the upgrades, but why bother?

My point is, you don't always have to revert to an earlier save because it isn't "perfect". You can hit level 30 long before end-game and still miss a TON of quest, so you don't have to worry if you're locked out of the Crimson Caravan/Cassidy quest line if you did "There Stands the Grass" first.

You're in one of two camps where it concerns this game. Either you plan to play through many times (4+) like myself and will make sure to get it right for the ending and character build you want or you'll play through it once and sell/trade/shelve the game. In either case, unless it actually keeps you from completing the main story line then it's not the end of the world.

And acting like it is only serves to get you ignored by the very people you want to fix the game.

You can save every 30 minutes and it won't matter once you get the bug that corrupts the save file. When you try to load back an old save it freezes the xbox. Clearing cache and playing off the recent patch doesn't fix it. Just a quick question. What part of the world are you playing in?

Just a side note... Obsidian (not Bethesda) actually produced New Vegas under a license from Bethesda. Bethesda obviously made a big mistake selecting and trusting Obsidian, but I think we should direct our dissapointment for the development to the right folks, and that is Obsidian.

If you just want to get to the end here is one suggestion. My friends and I were able to complete the game several times (taking different paths), and the simplest way is to have Speech, Medicine (and optionally Barter) to 100. You will cut out most of the tasks that lead to bugs, end conversations quickly, and in some cases, talk you way right to the end of quests. Using this strategy, you ought to be able to finish any path, even on hardcoe, in under 15 hours if you focus just on getting to the end.

And the blame for releasing this fauly bugfest falls at the feet of Bethesda.
They're both to blame.
Obsidian are incompetent and Bethesda negligent at best.

I understand that and I feel for those with this particular issue. I'd be livid if I was facing these problems. I've done all I can to try and avoid it and so far it's worked over two toons and 95+ hours of game play. I seem to remember reading on another forum (or perhaps it was this one) that when your most recent save gives you the DLC error that you should go to the load menu, press X to bring up the save device dialog and point it at your HDD, then try to load an earlier save. This might help to keep other saves being read as corrupt because the first one did.

Again, I haven't had this issue, so I'm not sure if this will help. It's just something I picked up reading forums where people need/ask for help with bugs and work arounds.

The argument can also be made that Beth and Zenimax pressured Obsidian to push the game out to early. That they were rushed in production and in testing to beat Fable 3 to the market. Assuming it's all Obsidian's fault is rather narrow minded, not to mention dead wrong.

Neat idea. I might do that on my hardcoe play through just to see how it all unfolds. I'll name my toon "Jedi M. Trick"

Look, I know Beth/Obsidian are probably hard at work on the patch to eliminate all of the bugs/glitches the community has found. On a sort-of side note, I was looking at Microsoft's certification process for games. Link:

http://www.ehow.co.uk/list_6528377_requirements-xbox-certified-games.html

Let me point out Pre-Certification, Testing and Certification to you. And it makes me wonder how this game actually managed to find store shelves. I've yet to play my game, but hitting gamebreaking bugs and glitches is not a risk I'm willing to take. I'll just hold out until a patch. Borderlands and a decent backlog of games.

Which work, surprisingly.

honestly id have to agree with you i havent finished a play through yet but i did finally figure out how to get past the for the republic part 2 bug i was having and skipped all the other buggy stuff in the game and what i plan on doing is finishing the game keeping that save for dlc and later patches that make the game better and then once the patch is finally up ill start a new game and enjoy the game at a whole with no bugs or game ending bugs and its a good plan thats working

I took my unopened copy back to the store and I will wait for a GOTY edition. I was really eager to play this but I can't deal with all of these (potential) issues. I have enough of a backlog to get me through until then.

Just a few things here:

1. L2savemorefrequently (even on smoother RPG's, I am a save [censored])
2. Realize you are so upset b/c of how much you enjoy the game when you are able to play for any real length of time
3. They are working on the issues, it takes a little time (play another game in the meantime, or dareIsayit, go outside for a change)
4. Yes you are only one person amongst millions of customers and you refusing to buy another game is not going to disturb their sleep one iota

Yeah, I agree with you. It really is too bad that people can't play through the game as many times as they wish playing it any way they wish each time. If that were the case then I'd have to disagree with you.

Yeah... just start praying you don't get the glitch that stops you from leveling up. I'm an extremely patient person but that this kind of bug can slip by a pretty substantial QA team in a game this major is ridiculous. Freezing, corrupted saves, and occasional visual glitches are expected (even if they are a bit more... frequent than they really should be in this game) in a game this size... but being unable to make a new character that can LEVEL UP?

The reason that level up bug can slip past them is the same reason it slips past a majority of people that play this game. It simply didn't happen when they played the game. You're maybe the 10th person I've seen with this issue. So 10 people out of several hundred thousand is a very, very small portion of the user base.
