Alright when do we get the rest of the game

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 5:33 am

I suppose whining about not having the whole game would be relatively pointless at this point. What was there minus that horrible ending was amazing so my question now is simple, when are we getting the rest of the game that was hacked off to be resold to us as DLC.

Not angry at that, it is pretty bs but frankly I just want it at this point. Anyone have any idea when we are getting the DLC if we are at all or will Rage 2 simply be rest of the game plus half another game?

Wouldn't it be funny if they pulled a Portal 2 with the remaining ark survivors. Remember Gladus ended up killing the humans to kill prototype Gladus.

Wondering the exact same thing. I only did one playthrough, because I was gonna wait for the DLC to do it again, but I haven't heard anything yet...

Well, at least here (dunno about the rest of his posts) he doesn't trash consoles - he refers to Carmack's infamous "We don't consider PC leading platform for games", which didn't make PC gamers really happy and most of them are really bitter at JC now.

Yeah I'm not really happy with JC at all(not that it matters, who am I? xD) and it's because consoles to ME are not the leading platform, UNLESS we're talking about sales. I'm just not really used to the age of gaming where a company can boast about selling 20million copies(call of duty) even though the game is a rehash/repackage of what got them successful.

In reality though JC never did much for the longevity of his games, it was always the modders and communities. I mean not to spite him because he did give us the engine but, it was always the the outside forces keeping the game active.

Consoles for the most part are outdated and all about money. What I like most about a PC game is that when I say "hey do you want to play quake?" we connect to a dedicated server and game it out. There is no " oh well I have xbox and you have ps3 so we cannot play together, oh noes!"

Really, John Carmack lacks one little thing that made his old games all-time classics: John Romero. With Carmack's programming skills and Romero's design they made wonders. Unfortunately, Romero promised to make everyone his [censored] and found himself being [censored] of every game reviewer out there, so the chances for reunion are slim.

Yes I agree! Romero is what made those games tick. The two Johns were an amazing duo because all JC wants to do is code and Romero knew what we wanted.

At first I was excited to see id be bought by Bethesda but I'm not so sure anymore....

So was I, I hoped only that Beth wouldn't be interfering too much into the development process (and if I remember correctly, they didn't); looks like they should've interfered - another flop of a franchise is the last thing Beth needs.

The irony is the id tech 5 and planned id tech 6 will make Carmack's job obsolete and allow all the Hollywood creative types to take over the industry. The technology is automated to make it easy to hire and fire artists at will and for anyone to port any game to any system. With the next generation consoles being capable of truly cinematic quality graphics and video games last year making more money then all the Hollywood movies combined there's no doubt in my mind where this is headed. Hollywood style directors and producers with technical knowledge like George Lucas and James Cameron dominating the industry and pushing investment in the technology to new heights. So far they've only dabbled in the industry but AMD already has plans to produce the first feature film and video game that use the same identical ray traced graphics. Pretty soon video games and Hollywood movies will become synonymous.

John carmack will still have a job. Id tech 6 will not be the be all end all engine. Id tech 5 sparse voxel octree does not solve every problem. In fact its very limiiting.

1 No global ilumination
2 Lack of destutability with sparse voxel octree
3 Limts on sparse voxse octree animation

My understanding is that id tech 6 will get us the most bang for our buck given the tecnological limitations of Moore's law. We will not be able to get full ray tracing grafics with single silicon processer because fisical limits. As a result john carmack will probaly have a job trying to get full ray traced grafics, while trying to utalizie opticle processers, and or, quntume processers and or, cloud computing for id tech 7.
