Amazing flying Dragon skeleton : V

So today I was heading south of Morthal and encounter a Frost Dragon. Halfway through the fight the dragon is circling overhead and all of a sudden I see the light and animation that you get when you absorb a dragons soul happens. I start looking around in case a second dragon died off some where, and then I look up, and no, it was that Frost Dragon, now in skeletal form, still flying around with half a bar of health.

He landed and I killed him, but I've never absorbed the soul of a still living dragon. Did I get the weird copy of skyrim or what?

After I poisoned the fake emperor, I was pursued by Solitude guards, all the way to Morthal. One comes swimming up to me, in the middle of the air like he was superman or something, and demanded I yield. I told him I was with the thieves guild and gave him 500+ gold and paid him, off, and he swims away, in the middle of the air.
