ambient sound effects?

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 7:52 am

I'm currentlly making a mod that is just a basic player house. I have a location picked out and all and am currentlly am working on the exterior, how ever, I'm basically turning a barren wasteland into a small forest area, and wanted to add wildlife sound effects into it(birds singing ect.) as well as maybe a sound effect of wind blowing through a tree(if thats in the ck) What I am wondering about is does anyone know how to do this? I can't figure it out..... thanks.

Ambient sounds are typically added via regions in the region editor. If you open the Region editor in the World menu you'll find all sorts of regions called 'Audio*'. Switch to the sound tab to see how the sounds are set up. You can duplicate an existing region and then make a small region around your house (make sure you check the override box with a high-enough priority). The CK wiki doesn't have any region information (strangely) so the best source is still the CS wiki: http://cs.elderscrolls.com/index.php/Regions#Sound_Tab. This will allow you to create sound effects based on weather and time of day.

You might also want to look into Acoustic Spaces (selectable from a drop down box when editing the cell data). They seem to be derived from region data (as described above) though I haven't had a chance to look into them yet. Alternately, you can drag AMB sound markers into your cell.

ahh ok I'll try that out thanks :) just wondering, is there any way to preview the sounds other than having to load the game and coc myself into the region?

There's a play button on the audio sound descriptor that matches the sound marker.

[Edit: Regions take sound descriptors, not sound markers.]
