Ammo Crafting Question

Post » Sun Apr 10, 2011 3:13 pm

Hey everyone. I'm just wondering if ammo crafting works with energy weapon ammo. I've seen all the types you can make, but none of these look like they work for energy ammo. I mean how do you make hollowpoint laser bursts. I'd really like to know because that will be a big factor on whether I choose guns or energy weapons.

I remember hearing somewhere that there'll be some sort of "overcharged" ammo that boosts damage. Probably really wears the weapon out though.

I think the strength of energy weapons will be more in the weapon mods. Seeing that the ammo is merely a power source in E-weapons' case, the whole rest of the weapon is yours for the tweaking.

Yes, there is a form of reloading for energy weapons, you use the batteries or something, it was in an interview.

There has always been a form of reloading energy weapons.... Your answer has nothing to do with his question.

All we know is there are overcharged and undercharged batteries in addition to the regular ammo. Overcharged increases damage and decreases condition faster on a weapon while undercharge decreases damage costs less condition per shot.

reloading as in how you reload a caseing,

And yes, there is Overcharge and Bulk, Overcharge is more powerful, and harmful to gun, bulk is lower powered, but I can't remember what else about it. Also I think there will be more kinds aswell...

You clearly did not understand the post. You save the spent batteries or whatever they are and recharge them somehow and that constitute reloading as one would bullets. It still bothers me that they are called "spent casing" when you want to reload 5.56 you buy 5.56 brass, not "casings." It's a very small thing to be picky about it and it won't matter in the long run, it's just like when someone says "their" when they aught to have said "there."

The only "spent" casings I've seen so far are empty flamer fuel bottles. There was mention that you could brew up a homemade flamer fuel that was pretty volatile.

There were 10mm spent casings in the G4 preview from two weeks ago.

Drained energy cells/microfusion cells/flamer tanks etc. can be recycled at workbenches. You simply need a certain quantity to mash them together into a single fresh charge. Well, that and a certain Science prerequisite.

Not all "brass" is "brass". E.g. a decent amount of Eastern bloc 8mm Mauser (like the stacks I have sitting next to me) have a lacquered steel case. "Brass" is a common term that people throw around colloquially but "case" is more generic and, in my opinion, accurate.

EDIT: Shotgun ammo leaves 12 ga. or 20 ga. "hulls".

I think the energy weapons will probably have a leg-up in regards to replenishing from recovered spent ammo. Just plug into a charger. May be one of the advantages for E-weaps.

But that's just speculation. We'll see in a week.... what a long week... :(

I've got a coupla boxes of greek 7.92x57 with steel casings you can have. Surplus crap wouldn't fire. Primers were set too deep.

That reminds me. I was thinking the other day: just what do the different types of energy cells represent? I was thinking that energy cells were simply an advanced battery, electron charge packs could be super capacitors and microfusion cells were small cold fusion devices. Then I wondered how you change the heat energy released in fusion into electricity to operate the weapons? Are there tiny little steam turbines inside each MF cell? Or am I clueless and cold fusion releases electrical energy?

Ahhh....

Or was that a edit that was added after I posted?

And it's mostly like I thought it'd be. The "charger" in this case is a workbench.

Thanks for the feedback. This makes me happy because now energy weapons aren't going to be worse than guns. :)

I suppose i can agree with that. I never really considered it because i wouldn't put Wolfe through my guns and when i go to purchase .338 lapua it is labelled under brass. I've never actually got into reloading shotgun shells, just a whole ton of expensive equipment (i use hornady and rcbs).
I knew i had the wrong word for laser weapon reloading, if that word applies, but i guess i was close enough for rock and roll. thanks for the info Mister Sawyer as per usual!
Sorry for being snippy BoSS, i get that way sometimes >.<
