Ancient Nord ruins..

I came to a realization when going through a Nord ruin. Gold coins/Septims. How are there Septims in ancient Nord ruins when they were constructed before the Septim Dynasty?

Gold coins are not an uncommon currency.

It's the books that bother me. Someone's been sneaking into these tombs, solving all the puzzles, deliberately placing 200-300 year old books in tombs, then resetting all the puzzles and traps.

Personally I think the Mysterious Stranger from Fallout has crossed dimensions.

This is as bad as, as somebody else would put it as 'immersion breaking' to find ebony and elven weapons in the tomb.

What about finding septims in dwemer ruins? It's not like Talos existed before the Dwemer extinction.

But is that really so bad? Would you want it so that 90% of the game's dungeons offered you weak loot and no money?

I don't mind it personally, but objectively it seems like a flaw. I suppose you could always argue that some nord descendent visits the tomb and offers sacrifice or tribute.

When I go in them, the first thing that comes to my mind is "guess they don't believe in coffins".

I think the coffins were made of wood and have deteriorated...even though the doors have not. In some of the Halls of the Dead and even in one or two Nord crypts I've seen some coffins intact. :P

What's also bothersome is how the draugr actually carry the coins? I mean come on, how did a draugr deathlord get these 40-odd Septims?

Back in Morrowind, Dwemer ruins had Dwemer coins and not Gold Coins. This disappointed me.

Anyways, it makes no sense but they did it for Game's Sake, not for Lore's sake. This sort of stuff NEVER gets record in the lore.. I mean seriously, is there a book in Skyrim that talks about what the Champion of Cyrodiil found in what dungeons?

No, there should be gold in some manner, but not Septims. Like the old Dwemer Coins or something like that.

In the inventory etc they are called "gold" are they not?
If it bothers you change their appearance via a mod...

Guess what? That was the first mod that I grabbed from the Nexus for my game.

Some of these ruins have living people in them (bandits, mages, dovahkiins, etc), so I guess it's possible that all of the ruins have had living people in them at some point in the last few hundred years. Maybe when draugrs get up to stretch their sinews they see shiny and pocket it?

The "Bearded Ladies" could be the results of the Draugr patching themselves back together with parts of tomb raiders over time.

That would be an awesome Trophy/Achievement. "Light 100 candles with a flame-based spell, ability or torch.". We could even get the Agent of Arkay permanent blessing of +10% Damage to Undead.

How many of yours would have eventually liked dungeons (or the whole game for that matter) with a logical consistency ?
in a world were cats and lizards walks on two legs and speak normally with you ?

Somewhere I got the idea that until Alduin came back the drauger were inactive (aren't they ancient dragon allies?). I've been assuming that the ancient tombs have had many visitors over the years, explaining the food stores, coins, set traps, etc.
Candles and torches? Magic, I guess.

Yeah, it's the half-and-half thing. Half will complain that the money is all the same despite no logical geographical and chronological connection and the other half would complain that we have Septims and Aldmeri Pounds and Dwemer Guilders and Draugr Kroners and Falmer Francs. :P

Draugrs are hoarders... they venture outside take all the junk they find then go back to their home.

Some instincts (such as collecting goods, defending 'home') survived after death.
