BLAME THE CONSOLES!

If this was a PC game, there would be much more complexity in puzzles. Without a keyboard, they are relegated to simple "turn the pillar" puzzles.

Gotta love the really devoted fan remarks. Platform isn't the issue, the designer can still implement solid puzzles for a control interface, especially since controller options have been available to PC users for some time.

To be fair, like I have previously stated, I was solving harder puzzles in the Legend of Zelda when i was ten years old. Funnily enough, that game was on a console (snes to be exact), so that argument doesn't hold up.

Neither does the the catering to 13 year olds, considering the game is meant for 18+. Unless you are telling me Bethesda gave the game an 18+ rating and still made the game for 13 year olds? Tsk tsk, they wouldn't do a morally reprehensible thing like that would they? ;)

anyone, and I mean anyone who watched any of the play throughs with Todd before the game ever came out should have known the claw puzzles... Its the one in bleak falls barrow that he uses as an example in almost every demo play through he did!

Well I didn't and I still knew what to do. So anybody that did watch and struggled to do the puzzle should consider nominating themselves for a Darwin Award in the way they feel best. Just do us a favour and tell us what you plan to do, so we can all have a good laugh before you do it.

The wrong combination should flood the zone, drop a giant, blow up, paralyze you, ect.

The consiquences for tripping most traps is so small. I don't know if master makes them that much more painful.

They should all hurt as much as those damn dwarf spinning blades. When i first saw one I shrugged it off before being sent to my quick death. I would be more careful or pick up the light foot perk finally.

There was a mod in Oblivion that made all traps deadly. One hit, one death, game over. That was pretty cool. You actually got to the point where, even while sprinting down the halls of a dungeon, you could always see the tripwire. I never hit a single trap in OB after that mod. Felt so damned proud for it too...

Oh Skyrim. The only place I can be shot by a thousand poisoned arrows and not even realize it. In fact, in Skyrim the traps don't even matter at all. I can hit every single trap in a dungeon and not even need to heal up.

Dude...right? When I came upon my first non-pillar puzzle I studied the setup for 10 minutes, afraid of what would be loosed upon me if I came at it wrong (this is called IMMERSION, kids, most enjoyed by people who don't charge blindly into every situation just because there's a quicksave option) and it turns out...the penalties for getting a puzzle wrong are laughable—when present at all.

On 11-11-11 I tried for an hour to open the door at bleak Barren, turns out it was a glitch and I had to leave and come back

The worrying thing is the sentiment of 'if people have difficulty with a puzzle, frustration and rage will ensue'.

If the only fun part of the game for most players is rolling on to the next set of enemies to one-shot, then puzzles are never going to be a good idea anyway... trying to figure out the solution to a puzzle is FUN, guys! In the same way that FIGHTING an enemy is fun, not just KILLING the enemy.

Many of the most memorable challenges in Ultima Underworld 2 (one of my favourite games, and pretty ancient) were the puzzle bits. Maybe my 10-year-old self was stupid, but some of them had me thinking and trying stuff out for hours. And that left a mark - I still revisit the game now and then.

THIS! and having dungeons completely dark made dungeons fun.

Why don't you read the thread before posting nonsense? It's not about asking for puzzles, it's about asking for non repeating puzzles or none at all. Simple.
