An annoyance...

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 10:54 am

i'm sure i'm not the only one who gets frustrated when you fast travel to Whiterun, wait for the load then go straight to Breezehome and have to wait again, or fast travel to the Thieves Guild and having to load twice before getting to Vex etc. Could there not be an option implemented to allow you to fast travel into and out of a "home" location?

It is annoying but it is a necessary evil.

I don't know if it's possible to fast-travel to an interior cell. It would be pretty great if you could, though.

Stephen Moffat's original ideas ftw. Love the concept of the Weeping Angels, and their first episode was one of my favorites. :P

On Topic: OP - what you really need is the return of the Mark and Recall spells - and maybe even a Divine Intervention spell.

No, that would be to convenient!!!! I want to sit and look at loading screens all day. I wanna get a good look the inside of a Falmers nose!
I love the idea, it really is something that drives me nuts as well, but let's be realistic, it's more important for Beth to focus their attention on......I better stop here before I start preaching again

Why fast travelling anyway? Walking is a lot better. :)

Agreed, but you still have to sit through all those loading screens just to dump some stuff off or sell to Tonilla however you get there.

No, because if we could do that the game would have to load every interior building as well as every exterior building making load times longer.

I haven't looked at the CS for Skyrim, but I'm pretty sure this isn't correct.

I'm presuming there is a reason (probably technical) for FTing you to outside where you want to be, but I'm not sure this is it.

I disagree. Lets say you FT to Whiterun, so you wait for the load. Then you walk to Breezehome and enter, you have to wait again. If you could FT straight to Breezehome it would be one load only - the same one as you would get now but without the Whiterun load in the middle. It would still load when you leave Breezehome as it does now.

I get more annoyed that some houses is on the other end of town when you spawn in a city. Why isn't our houses a location on the map so we can fast travel there quickly?

I know I'm lazy, but it's at least less lazier than fast traveling to the inside of the house...

This would be pretty cool, but I've never seen a load screen last longer than maybe a half of a second. So I'm not complaining, either.

Maybe a good implementation would be:

Set a home location, so for example you can travel direct into Breezehome to dump some items, and back out again.

If an indoor location is the next step in a questline, for example Thieves Guild or DB, then you get the option to fast travel straight into the Ragged Flagon or the Sanctuary.

i would welcome the game to load the insides of houses as you walk around the city, to make going in and our as instant as could be..

and as far as the thieves guild noncence is consearned.. iv gone through solid dungeons much bigger than that, the cistern should just joint with ragged flaggon.. i dont see any point to two seperate areas like that

The Ragged Flagon is my biggest bug-bear as far as this is concerned. Getting in and out just to complete and pick up quests or sell to Tonilla is such a pain.

They won't be bringing those back. They are a pain in the behind for the people who have to design quests and events. Just imagine what a headache it is if you have to consider the possibility of the player disappearing from any area at any given moment in time.
Also, most people used that in Morrowind the way they use fast travel now, so it's mostly redundant anyways.
