Annoying Punk Buster Error/Kick

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 10:04 am

After getting very sick of MW2, I decided to switch back to COD4 for now, however I keep on getting this error now: http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq102/Starforce9/iw3mp2010-02-2111-14-30-82.jpg Does anyone know what that error code represents? I just did a clean install of Windows yesterday and it still gives me that error. I am running the Steam purchased version of the game, also.

As I recall...

Also, thats not a physical BD drive, its mounted.

That could be your problem. Punkbuster hates virtual drive software.

Either that or it thinks your install of COD4 is invalid.

Seems that any program doing a screen overlay will give this error. this includs, but is not limited to: Xfire, Mumble, and ATI tray tools. Another user reported that removing .net framework feature pack 1.0. Yet another user found that updating his sound card drivers fixed it.... no information on what sound card he was using, or what driver version though.....

if you have a program that makes use of screen overlays, turning off that aspect should take care of it.

Yeah, but when I reinstalled Windows, I got rid of all of my virtual drives.
Edit-HeyYou, I will try to disable some unneeded processes.
Edit2-It turned out to be the Steam Community Overlay, odd. When I closed other programs it would still kick me in the first 10 seconds. When I stopped the Steam Overlay i was actually able to play a full 4 round game of Search. Thanks for the suggestions. I would have never of thought it would be the Steam system itself. This can be closed now.
