I have currently two issues with alchemy experimentation, which keep annoying me, and for which I hope to see a fix.
1. When one experiments with the ingredients and finds that two ingredients do not mix will their combination get greyed out. However, once all 4 effects of an ingredient are known should the game automatically grey out all combinations with other, fully explored ingredients, and where a combination makes no sense. This is currently not the case and it will keep a combination highlighted even when it is obvious that it will fail. If this could get changed then the grey-out feature would be a lot more helpful than it currently is.
2. When a new potion is created successfully will the game leave the ingredients selected. When one wants a selection cleared then one only needs to press 'F'. However, when one is experimenting and a combination fails will the current selection get cleared. I assume that this is done in order to assist the player, but it is actually not helpful. When one has got many different ingredients and wants to experiment on them, then one always has to scroll up and down, over and over again, in order to to reselect an ingredient. If this automatic deselection after a failed experiment could get removed then experimentation would be a lot less tedious and be more fun, because having to scroll up and down over a hundred ingredients, even with a scroll-wheel mouse, is very annoying.
The first issue might actually be a bug or something that has been forgotten to be put into the game. The second issue may not, and as I already mentioned be intentional and meant as a help. Please, take a look at these and see if you can improve them. Alchemy experimentation is a nice element of the game, but I think it should not be as tedious as it is now.
