I've been a long time fan of FPS games now and clocked lots of time into ET:QW, so when I heard about BRINK about six months ago I was psyched to get my hands on the next-gen shooter. When I first started playing I noticed how stupid the bots can be if you're not offensive. I was wondering why my missions were always unsuccessful until I realized the bots won't take objectives because that'll steal your experience. Once I caught on, I started playing and enjoying myself. Admittedly, I had a few other problems. Unbearable lag. However, this was fixed by simply doing some port forwarding (27015 btw). I also would lose sound randomly and this would persist until another match began. The Resistance campaign took me about seven hours to complete total and I actually enjoyed the cut scenes and voice acting. The real story is actually in the video/audio logs that you unlock though! You should really give them a listen, I still have a lot to collect myself.
As for achievements, I've gotten 17/36 (47% - Steam) without really going into achievement hunting. Just play the game. However, the first set of one star challenges didn't take me too long to complete and get the weapon unlocks for. But for some reason on the two star challenges, I've noticed that the bots difficulty SKYROCKETS for whatever reason. I'm not sure if SD is aware of it but in my opinion, the second level challenges are pretty unfair as it stands. Enough to get me frustrated at least.
All in all BRINK is a good game. It was worth the wait and I may even get a second copy for the 360 (to play with some other friends) just because I enjoy the game that much!
