[Main Quest RP issue] My anti CoW Dragonborn does not want t

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 7:08 am

I showed Faralda my shout and she lets me enter, but it still starts the "First Lessons" quest. Who said anything about wanting to be a student and having to listen to Tolfdir's lecture?

I don't want a dead quest stuck in my journal.

What other options do I have? I'm playing on PC.

Also since I am role-playing, no sneaking into the college via backdoors or whatever. And yes, I am aware I can just skip the college altogether and go straight to Septimus' hideout but that won't make sense from an RP viewpoint. My character has no idea of Septimus' whereabouts.

Metagaming bla bla bla.

Also, I dislike how the Oghma Infinium quest is forced upon the player. My character will NOT have anything to do with the Daedra... definitely not going to take blood samples from Elves for no reason!

You can simply say 'no, I don't want to go on the tour' when Mirabelle asks you, and instead run into the Arcaeneum, grab the information you need and leave, never to return.
As for the Oghma Infinium quest - you don't need to do anything other than obtain the Elder Scroll. No need to help any Daedra.

Yeah, it's a bit lame that they just kinda rope you into doing certain things, like the quests you mentioned, werewolfism, that sorta thing. I just imagine up why my character's doing it rather than just ignore it because I need to do everything ever. Makes me feel a bit better that I can reason things through rather than begrudgingly accept them.

And yeah, "Discerning the Transmundane" is a quest completely separate from "Elder Knowledge." Unfortunately, given you're past level 15, it might stay as a dead quest in your log. I haven't done the quest in a long while, so I'm not sure if you can just tell Hermaues Mora to go to Oblivion and he'll leave you alone.

Alternatively, you can just keep heading to his outpost. It's metagaming, but still.

Ya it svcks that our dragonborn cant handle peer pressure to well. I mean someone just says something to a random npc and we hear it its like I need to go do that because someone said zomething about it. Sigh I miss actually having to talk to peoe directly to do quests and the option to say no and not have the quest log filled with crap I have to do because I overheard it.

I know I dont have to do those questz but some of those quests wont let me talk to someone without them first telling me an update or just soley quest related and nothing else until I complete an objection.

Had to go the meta gaming route. Sigh. I really hope they don't do this crap for future TES games...

You don't even need to talk to Mirabelle. Just walk right past her while she has her scripted chat (or wait until she's finished but don't talk to her) and go and see the target. Even if you don't know who to talk to, he has a big pointer over his head if you have quest pointers enabled.

Seriously, you will enjoy the game a million times better if you simply get over this. Just uncheck the quest marker and let it sink to the bottom of your journal. The compulsive need to do every single quest your character is aware of is bad for you. Conquer that need. It's not as hard as you think.

You do know you can go straight to that outpost and talk to the crazy guy about the Elder Scroll then go get the Elder Scroll right after you talk to Paarthurnax? Heck, you can do it at any time you wish even if you hadn't start the mainquest.

Seriously, why do people think they NEED to follow the marker? Learn not to follow that thing and you shall learn many interesting paths in the mainquest that you do not know about.

~Edit~

And yes, this does work cause I don't bother the mainquest until AFTER I use that one Daedric Book glitch to get to level 81.. This mean, I actually have the Elder Scroll before even going to Whiterun for the mainquest.
