Any input on what the new patch "fixes"

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 10:15 am

Looks like it is breaking more than it is fixing. Could a dev just drop a list of fixes with the new patch? Is it time to remove the d3d9.dll file yet? Has the issues that have plagued the quicksaves etc been fixed? Could someone throw us a bone?

Anyone have any input on this? I just wanna know before I get home to play tonight (after finally getting it running great last night) if it's going to be hell all over again.

"We have just released an automatic update for the PC version of Fallout: New Vegas that resolves quest and scripting issues. Be sure to restart Steam to ensure the update is downloaded on your next launch of the game. We’re also working hard to make this update available for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game as soon as possible, and will let you know as soon as we have the dates they’ll be up."

Game still works fine for me after the patch , but some people seem to be crashing after patching. I dont think the patch even fixed anything really.

I wish they fixed the tedious save game nonsense. Should have been fixed already.

The first patch is just for scripting, quest and gameplay issues, likely so it can be pushed to ALL platforms with little fuss, it's more important for them to fix bugs in all versions than in just one. It svcks but that's how it is. :brokencomputer:

As far as I can tell from my experiences so far there was nothing specific to the PC version fixed in it, but i'm still able to play just fine with the custom dll fix.

I might be imagining it but it seems this update made npcs stutter kinda warp forward a little in the running animation when I get near them, didn't happen before patch iirc.

Yeah I'm missing all my savegames that took place after the patch and it has more crashes now (once game is quit, when the launcher is started, etc.).

I've tested removing the DLL fix and the save bug fix after the patch, and the patch doesn't seem to address either problem, so keep your user-made fixes in place until the next patch.

I've also had one crash since the patch (didn't have any before), and I started getting the save bug just before the patch was applied (didn't have the problem on Tuesday). Not sure what it has fixed--people have been complaining that the Caravan card game wasn't working, so I suspect that may have been one of the script fixes, but that is just speculation--I haven't played Caravan yet, and I haven't heard any reports of improved functionality after the patch.

The patch apparently fixed my "FalloutNV.exe has stopped working" issue. Was crashing on me roughly every half hour, but after the patch, I didn't crash once.
