So I got my favorite companion, and I find this cave, and I think to myself, "AH! Time for another great adventure!"
And it usually goes something like this: I shoot the first bandit I see, and my companion charges headlong ahead of me and just steamrolls the rest of the area. I stand there and cry, trying to point my little iron arrow at something -- anything -- like a little child, until at last my bloodied companion returns, pats me on the head, and tells me a job well done. "Too easy!" I say, so I scale my difficulty up to Legendary. There appears to be no effect now, beyond the fact that I am even LESS useful than before -- until I get to a boss, which rediculously blows all of us away. Well, okay, I'll scale it down -- let's take my normal Master difficulty and set it to Adept. Well, now there's no point at all in me having a companion since I can 1-shot everything at level 5.
I'm not one to sit there and play with the difficulty setting. I want to set it and forget it. I want to play my game with a talkative companion as if that's a major feature that Bethesda put a lot of thought into.
So, is there a mod that works to scale difficulty but handicaps companions so they are more on the level of the player for survivability, requiring you to assist and actually do stuff to make it through dungeons?
