Any news on the PS3 version of New Vegas?

Post » Fri Apr 08, 2011 1:34 pm

I checked the last three pages for a similar topic, so forgive me if this has already been discussed.

I own the PS3 version of F3, along with the BS and PL DLCs. It was sometimes very difficult to play the game, with slowdown, constant freezes and glitches and very ugly textures. From what I hear, the draw distance is also worse. However, I stilled adored the game, and sunk many hours into it. When I entered PL it officially broke my game. I can't continue the main story in PL nor can I ever return to the Capital Wasteland. From F3 Wiki:

Sometimes you can't get close to the ferry and surrounding locations anymore, if you walk there the game will freeze and you must reset PS3, if you fast-travel there it won't stop loading. Deleting game data won't fix it. (Confirmed)

All of my recent saves are in PL.

Now, I know the PS3 version was poorly translated from the start, I get it, its an entirely different beast than a PC or the 360. I read reviews before I bought the game, so I had an idea of what I was getting into.

I'm not buying any more F3 DLC, and I probably won't buy NV if I hear the same word of mouth for the PS3 version. I've been real excited for the game, though.

Considering the game hasn't been released yet, no, nobody knows if the PS3 version will suffer those same issues.

I will be a little upset if it does. But i also have a 360, so if i find out that the ps3 version of nv has similar problems im going to cancel my pre-order and get the 360 version instead.

I'm hoping since FO3 was released just after the release of ps3 (Resulting in a port to ps3), Now that the PS3 has been around for a few years, they have taken the time to develop for ps3 and taken some of the old problems From FO3 on ps3 into account.

PS3 is all I have to play this on, My laptop is not able to play games for a long period and my XBOX is RRoD

I am really hoping the ps3 version will have less crashes/bug/glitches then FO3

Well, I was hoping Bethseda or Obsidian would have released something that would reassure us about the follow-up.

I really wish I could get my money back for PL, I'm stuck at the mission that (SPOILER)involved the ferris wheel(SPOILER), because I can't get to it anymore.

The thing is, the ps3 was and is a hard console to program, to quote a dev "All versions of New Vegas will have strengths and weaknesses", but even the ps3 version of NV was the same as the ps3 version of fallout 3 I would still buy it, Does that make me an idiot? I think so.

I agree waiting all that time was frustrating,

Would be nice to have some confirmation on whether the PS3 version is less Glitch/Bug/Crash free then FO3 was :sadvaultboy:

Tho im not sure this is my take on things. Bethseda was new to the ps3 technology since they released fallout 3 just after the ps3 came out. Tho they were to lazy to fix the ps3 only bugs and issues. probably they will have fixed that (Also considering Obsidian made the game) so with obsedian and bethseda knowledge hopefully the game can be perfect running on ps3. Same with DLC hopefully it will be on ps3 when its on xbox 360.

Fallout 3 wasn't released right after the PS3 came out. Unless you are talking about Oblvion. So Bethesda had some practice but still failed with the PS3. All we can hope if that Obsidian has lernt the mistakes from the predecossors.

Also ask this question in 2 or 3 weeks time. This way there should be plenty of people who played the PS3 version. Or better yet, can you not rent the game first and try it out?

History will repeat itself unless they started with the ps3 version. In eurogamer.net 360/ps3 face-off articles the ps3 generally comes out as the looser.

I don't get it, I thought Bethseda's previous game, Oblivion, ran the best on the PS3?

O yea woops. But still oblivion worked fine on my ps3.... so i dont know what you guys are talking about but the ps3 works for me all the time. Fallout 3 also worked for me with the occasional floating person. But hey thats fallout for you. The future looks pretty cool.

You might not have this luxury, but I typically buy American games on the 360 and Japanese games on PS3.

You'd think someone would have the decency to clear this up for us ps3 users. *hint hint Frank Kowalkowski*

EDIT: Don't you just hate it when a Mod views a topic that they've been called onto and then they leave without posting :cryvaultboy:

Just take into account that if you wait until after the release to see if there will be problems you will lose your chance at the Collector's Edition.

Naw, he wouldn't have replied.. Mean devs never talk about their games.. Especially the weaknesses.
