Any possible way to change models on Ps3?

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 8:57 pm

Hi, I'm not sure if this is in the right place, if it's not I'm sorry.

Basically I've been playing Skyrim on my pc, but I decided to stop and get it on Ps3, but I have one problem, and it's a pretty big one (especially when it comes to this game!), I'm deathly afraid of the way the spiders look when they move. I had to wait for someone to mod it on pc before I could even play it. :/

Now what I'm asking is there any legal way for me to change what they look like in any way possible right now or plans for the future to allow this sort of thing before I buy it on Ps3?

Thanks. :-)

P.s yeah yeah, I don't like spiders. inbe4 get help etc. just leave it.

No there isn't.

Mods are strictly PC only. And that includes any method of changing or editing in game assets.

Legal? Don't know. Discussable here? Nope. Spiders seem to scare enough players away that turning them off should be an in-game option. It's too bad there's nothing we can do right now.

I sense a great PR opportunity for a very small, free DLC that could net a few (thousand) extra sales. Will probably never happen. :(

That is impossible even with methods that can't be discussed here. Only the PC version can be made spider-free. Bethesda should make a DLC that does it, and they seem to oppose DLCs that make only minor changes, judging from Fallout 3 and what they said of their DLC plans to Skyrim. Propably due to the reactions to horse armor :lmao:

This, basically.

Rather than a DLC it should probably just be a universal patch addition that lets you toggle them off or into something else. I wonder if game developers ever discuss or seriously consider this. It's crazy how many people I know who are utterly terrified of spiders and will give up a game completely because of their presence.

Contrast this with the one person I know who is terrified of slaughterfish. That patch probably wouldn't be worth the time.

Spiders are not your enemy in real life. They are more scared of you . I once killed a spider cos I swiped at it in fear. *THUD* - instant death.

That`s when I realised they have much more to fear from us than we from them.

It's hardwired... it's not something they learn. The fear is genetic and was a survival mechanism for our species. Some have overcome it, and some have not.

Why is a fear of X more important that somebody else's fear of Y?
If Bethesda released a DLC/patch to allow the changing of X (spiders), they'd have to release a bunch of other DLC/patches to also take care of the infinite numbers of Y*. That is a lot of work and would probably not be profitable.

* "You added a toggle for spiders, but I'm afraid of crabs. Can you turn the mudcrabs into bunnies for me?", etc.

As far as I know, Archnaidaphobia is one of the more common ones. As spiders have always been seen as dangerous and a threat, our minds react approtiate to that.
Some people can overcome fear better than others.

OT: Well, I'm sorry for those that got problems with this. But I din't really expect anyone to change their games to fit the majority of the minority.

You know I'm an arachnophobe too & there's nothing so terrifying as walking along in a cave and KERPLUNK....Big Spider RIGHT in front of you. It was late at night that very thing happened to me. I dropped the controller and ran out of the room...

I'm an arachnophobe (I CANNOT sleep in a room where a spider bigger than a euro coin was spotted until I see its mangled corpse), and the ingame spiders don't bother me in the slightest. In fact, they're some of my favorite creatures in the game. How can you be afraid of pixels?

I love spiders. I always have too. I suspect that puts me in a very small minority. I think it's also why they're so common in games.

Same as you can be afraid of an un-harmful little spider in a bedroom?

Many people have hard wired fears that are hard to overcome. Even though these fears are often quite irrational given our modern lifestyle.

[edit]
I have no fear of spiders or any other critters, I have no fear of heights whats however. I fear water. Deep water of whitch I can't see the bottom. I will literately choke up and stiffen when I attempt to swim in water like that. (<- has happened several times) It's completely irrational since I am an excellent swimmer. But yet, I'm scared to death by it, literaly I suppose. Most phobia just aren't rational.

Er... then why are you so afraid of computer made up spiders to the point you want them removed? You know they don`t exist in real life and you aren`t afraid of the real ones...

So what`s the problem? As far as I can see, there isn`t one.

I know some people are scared of spiders. I am not one of them. I even carry them outside when I see them in my house.

However, the game spiders are not that spider like really. They remind me more of the Ants in Fallout 3/New Vegas.

There isnt a problem, I asked a simple question.

Im pretty sure people know ghosts dont exist in real life, doesnt stop them getting scared when they watch a movie about ghosts now does it?

I want them removed as the way they move in game makes my skin crawl, if you don't like it then hard luck, stop reading the thread.
