Any safe trade routes for my NPCs?

Hey guys, so I'm working on a mod, inspired by an Oblivion mod, http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4387.

I figured, since so many people go on and on about how great the Strip is, and how it's an oasis of civilisation and yadda yadda yadda, it makes sense that there'd be travelers on the road to Vegas, hoping to make their fortune there and so on. It'd also make the wasteland that little bit livelier, which I feel is lacking.

However, there's one thing holding me back.

Cazadores.

Those things would tear an ordinary wastelander apart in seconds, even with several heavily-armed guards, and they show up just about everywhere along the road.

So, I was wondering, if anybody has noticed any safe routes my NPCs could take? The last thing I want is for my guys to end up like Crow and the rest of the Canterbury Commons caravans in Fallout 3, dead on the side of the road before the Courier has a chance to meet them. I mean, I could make them essential, but that seems like such a copout.

The safest route is the long way down Primm, to Nipton, to Novac, and up. There are some beasties either path from Nipton to Novac, but it's nothing like between Goodsprings and the Strip...

I know it might seem immersion breaking for the 'hardcoe' roleplayer, but have you ever considered using a ghost script like the girl in Mothership Zeta has?

I thought about it, but it's no different to being essential, IMO.

Also, thanks Pintocat. I can't believe I forgot about that route- route the game tells you to take. I'm dumb. :P

Eh, I know, but from the POV I see it from, it's a slight immersion breaker to set it to never have a fight, but it's more frustrating to see your hard work dead in a ditch

It may be painful to build, but have you considered building your own highwya? Or would you just rather it run on pre-set roads and etc?

Or, add in enough heavily armed merc's that they can survive the attacks? When I think about it, it would be potentially more profitable to risk a more dangerous route. Its far faster then the other routes. All you need is a few heavily armed npcs.

Also, someone feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but you can give perks to npcs. So give them the anti-bug perk. :)
