See title. Is there some way to place objects and make them stay in place after you leave and come back? ;(

If you find out, let me know. Thought I was nuts when my stolen (<.<) stature of Dibella ended up back where it had been de-inventoried every time. Then I realized the engine uses some sort of active memory buffer instead of paying attention to the save contents like it should.

This is probably the same thing that makes you have to quit game to get merchants to restock gold, but they will be full up instantly if you do. Likely also the way I ended up with 2 copies of a journal after I'd quick-reloaded without saving after reading it; I ended up getting credit for reading it twice, as the game apparently saved the memory from the unsaved reading before I quickloaded (the update HUD text showed when I reloaded).

Please bethesda, fix your memory leaks!

Are you saying you couldn't arrange items in Oblivion? Might have been a bug in your install then; I was always able to stack things. Know that for certain as had the Portable Hole mod and stacked things in a very specific order to find them quickly. Mind you, I nvr got into stacking in Obliv. as much as back in my ol' Tel Uvirith in Morrowind; had all the soul gems lined up on surfaces to add color.

Seems as if the only way to order items will be a "really stack items" mod.

i found in
Morrowind that placing / moveing, rotateing items was realy easy.
Oblivion i had multiple installs since it came out & i just cant seem to get the hang of picking sumthing up & placing / rotating it just right
Skyrim LOL open a door & loads of items get bounced all over (the only place you can realy place items in skyrim is chests unless you like doing the house work lol)

@ Deep thought

Weird abt Oblivion causing issues, tho admittedly things were literally "dropped" from inventory like in Skyrim, and had resultant physics, so that could be annoying. Morrowind was all "THUNK" and the item was glued in place.

Note, however, that I did manage to get another of my characters to place a statue in Breezehome, and it actually stayed put where it was placed. Not sure what process the game is using for this. . .

No go, sir.

Using CK to alter cells causes an NPC no-movement/no reaction to actions bug. Google the NAVMESH issue. Shows up when you move 2 cells away from a cell you added or modified. Right now, until Beth fixes the bug (which was in their Fallout games as far back as '07 and is still unfixed) modding cells breaks Skyrim. Thus, our still extant quandary over placing items.
