Any way to earn heaps of money?

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 1:22 am

Is there any way to earn loads of shiny gold without smithing and enchanting stuff and then selling it?
I, for example have been pickpocketing for 30 levels like mad and i only have 23.000 septims! And then i see guys on youtube with like 195.000 and people that say that you're a noob if you don't got over 30.000 thousand just laying around.. What the hell?
Thanks for any advices :P
I play a sneaky character btw..

If your build has any room for it, even a slight focus on Speech will make you rich no matter what else you do in the game.

Alchemy is EXTREMELY profitable, even at mid levels. Any kind of 'fortify' effect makes your potions worth many times more than the mats (well, depending on which mats you use OFC)

Steed sign. Extra pockets.

Dungeons is how I make my cash, and selling dragon bones. I have a ton stored away, but dont plan.on.making armor with it.

So you're asking how to make a lot of money without using the best means to get it? If you seriously want to do it with only stealing then you're going to have to find a fence to sell your stuff. Still you're not going to get as many diamond or emerald jewelry without smithing. It's simple math.

I make all my money simply by selling loot. I'm level 33, have over 120,000.

I've exploited nothing, sold nothing I made except some jewelry on occassion. Otherwise, I just kill stuff, loot it, sell it.

This. Yeah, I don't swim in cash like the 200k+ people, but "Explore dungeon, kill people, take their stuff, sell it" certainly earned me plenty of gold.

I've said this before on a post similar to this and I'll say it again... Do the Thieves Guild quests until you can get Fences that has a limit of 4,000 Septims for you to sell your junks to them. And upon finishing the entire guild quests, you'll have 9 Fences (but since Enthir is bugged coz he still has the same limit of Septims after the quest, then we'll make it 8 Fences to be exact including the 2 Khajits from the Caravans) each having 4,000 Septims. And also just by doing Thieves guild quests, you'll get more money.

If I didn't buy anything I'd probably have millions. I spend a lot... :)

Guess "a lot" is relative to how much you spend.

I never said i was going to only use pickpocket.. I just said that's what i have been doing until now..
And no, i don't want to use smithing or enchanting, i don't want to feel forced to use some skill i don't want to use just to earn money. That's silly, there are other ways to earn money :P

Enchanting is very nice if you got the right enchantments. I've been crafting anti-Undead iron daggers and their value is generally 600-800 gold, which is good compared to how much it costs me to make them (around 200 gold each)

Enchanting is the cash cow, not smithing, yes you can make money crafting and improving armor, however enchanting junk weapons is a nice way to make lots of money.
Alchemy is also an very nice way to make money. At higher level just looting dungeons also give huge profit.

I get plenty of money looting the corpses of the stuff I kill.

Plus you need to bring the guild back to its former glory by doing the sidequests before you get all the fences. I have a fence in every major city, and its bloody handy.

Isn't that like 125 thieves guild sidequests you need to do?

Nope. 5 guild missions in the city, then 1 special job = new fence.

im only level 22 first playthrough (just got game for christmas) so im unaware of the long term profit, good to hear its enchanting because i will be focusing on that.
but i know early on there was a shrine, almost positive it was meridia, gives you a ton of cash. i was really struggling with gold at first, did this quest and it gave me a cool like 7k. and you know what they say, it takes money to make money

just playing game selling loot as pure warrior i had enough money by lvl 30 to have bought all the houses and all the crafting stuff and potions i could ever need seriously money is no object. As i thief you have extra merchants and the option to sell stolen goods, just take more stuff.
there is no need to farm gold to get rich its everywhere any way and its not like theres much to buy!!!
