Any way to get find animal companions?

Post » Sat Jun 30, 2012 8:34 pm

I just started on my Argonian again, to remember I have an animal following me, therefore I cannot hire another one, but the animal is missing, any way to find him or dismiss him without finding him?

Sounds like a Dawnguard issue. You should repost your question on the Dawngaurd forum.

Troll followers are exclusive to Dawnguard. Thus, you are asking a Dawnguard specific question.

Yeah, you can buy a war dog, Vigilance, from Markarth, find strays on the roads and there's Meeko, a dog who's master died and he's alone off the road by Meeko's shack.

I was specifically asking if there was anyway to dismiss an animal follower without having to find it, like the FO:NV terminal, I was only stating that I remembered this because I tried to get a troll..

Which as Skooma fiend says is a feature in Dawnguard... Which people here may not want to know about until they get the dlc. Which is why it's better for these things to be posted where they belong in the Dawnguard forum.

Hopefully that was clear enough.

I get that just its that i swear that it was announced they would be in there like 2 weeks before the DLC came out? But I'll change it anyway then?

But there are some people that put blinders on to avoid anything like that. I'm not like that myself. But there are those that don't want to know any details at all.

Try using the carriage system to travel to somewhere else, my lost horse usually appears when I do this.

And exactly where did he state that his follower was a troll?

He doesn't remember what his follower was, just some sort of animal. He mentioned a troll in his original statement but has since revised it because of the controversy it was causing. It was a DG troll.

SkoomaLizard was kind enough to edit the spoilers out of his OP. Initially, he was referencing Dawnguard specific content in his question.

@SkoomaLizard:
If you fast travel several times (or wait a number of days), followers will usually return to the location where you originally hired them. Hopefully, you could then rehire/dismiss and that should solve your problem. Sorry for jumping on your back earlier.

Try this skoomalizard: Go to Meeko's shack and ask meeko to follow you. Even if you have an unseen stray dog following you somewhere, meeko will automatically replace him as your animal follower. Then you can dismiss meeko and you will be free to pick up whatever animal or creature follower you need.

I just tried this on one save and I had already been there, and Meeko was dead next to a solitude guard...any other ideas?

That svcks that he was already dead. Maybe there's another animal like meeko out there that would work the same way, I don't know, there's still alot of the world I haven't explored. There's a dog named Barbas near Falkreath in the south that will join you as part of a quest, but I don't think he replaces a stray like meeko does. Anyway, good luck.
