I understand this feeling. Lately nearly everything I touch feels distinctly "not Skyrim"... and thus I cease to care about those things.

Actually I've never been more open to less familiar game types.

Well I defiantly have been playing some of the more recent titles Dark Souls, Arkham City etc.

But I know where you are coming from. Once I finished both of them (I enjoyed both immensely) I couldn't be bothered continuing to play to work on platinum :trophy: which is very unlike me especially for games I truly enjoyed. I even have a couple newer titles I haven't even touched, Atelier Totori, Run Factory etc and I can't bring myself to play anything atm. I even tried to try and start a new playthrough of Oblivion since it has been quite some time since I played it and even that failed miserably.

Right now the ONLY thing I want to play is Skyrim.

So no you are not alone :foodndrink:

I agree to a certain extent. I still play other games, but I find myself
going back and check the forums a little too often lately. The other
games do feel a little like, fillers, right now. Just a way for time to
pass until 11.11.11. oh well, we are almost there now.

I still feel that way when anything is compared to Oblivion. Whenever I play anything in the back of my mind I keep thinking that I could be playing Oblivion instead :tes:

Definitely.

Games I enjoyed thoroughly and played for years on end:

- Civilization 2 / Alpha Centauri (many many years spent playing these and their sequels)
- Baldur's Gate 1 + 2 (around 2 years spent playing through both games several times)
- Morrowind (3 years spent playing this, 2 years with just my first character o.O)
- Guild Wars (Played for almost 6000 hours over 6 years)

Oblivion was ok, and I thoroughly enjoy it when I install it and start playing, but about 3 months later I feel completely bored and stop playing. I'm hoping that Skyrim will be better, and keep me as interested as Morrowind did.

No other game has kept my interest for more than a few days, other than lots of fantastic Indie Games on Steam.

Oh, and I also liked Sacred 1 + 2 a lot. I'm looking forward to Skyrim, Guild Wars 2 and Diablo III as these are pretty much the only games I know I will enjoy.

Sort of. Only not skyrim.

Fallout new vegas, I have played for a looong time. Now its over. Becuase I feel I did everything, I want to take a break, but I cant find a good replacement for it.

Battlefield 3
Dark souls

2 new purchases, havent spent much time with DS 70 hours, one playthroug. Around 9 hours on BF3 multiplayer. I am thinking of buying other games too e.g singularity. Its old and cheap and will pass time. Atleast until kingdoms of Amalur. Which I have high expectations for. Its the fable I always wanted, hoping to find that charm, or atleast an alternative to fallout new vegas. So yeah right now im buying games, but only to fight boredom while waiting for another game. I like BF3 dont get me wrong, but its not something on par with fallout NV, becuase I regularly quit the game, fallout held my attention for hours on end.

I have as little interest in Skyrim as you have in other games. Don't have much time for gaming now anyway, and the time I do have is spent on X-Tended Terran Conflict.

Been playing Deus Ex H.R. now and yes I have been getting that feeling since early October but the wait itself is perfectly manageable for me.

And on that note and nothing personal to the OP but am I the only one thinking we should perhaps consider making a central Skyrim thread (waiting, plans, et cetera regarding the release) for the Skyrim forums or with CD for the sake of there not being 5 threads of a similar nature in CD [if only in theory].

Not really. I mean, Skyrim's definitely going to be takin the lion's share of gametime for the next six-twelve months, for sure, but there's also Saints Row the Third and Halo aniversery out in the next few days after Skyrim, and Mass Effect 3 in March. Not to mention the stack of games I've currently got on the backburner. I don't think I'm losing taste at all

It's not so much that I've lost my taste so much as it is I'm sick of waiting around for the "good" (good, in my opinion, of course) games I actually want to spend hours at a time playing to come out. I do know what you mean, in a way, but my lack of said behavior is mostly due to the lack of games I really want to play, at the moment... but when I do get one of those games, I'm right back into long game sessions. Mostly, I just can't spend a lot of time consecutively playing a game unless it's, usually, an RPG with the rare exception of some non RPGs I just end up loving. As soon as I get Skyrim, it'll be party time all over again.

I've lost the want to play FPS games anymore, but other than that, I've been playing the same old Sandbox, RPG, and NHL games :).

I find I really only have a drive to play RPGs and Open-world games anymore. Its just that I'm getting so much more in those types of games than most other genre of games.

Not really. I tend to go through different moods with video games. Sometimes i'm in the mood for an FPS game, other times i'm in the mood for a strategy game, or a racing game, etc. Right now i'm in the mood for an RPG. It's like a cycle.

Ever since I stopped playing New Vegas I've been playing the same three games and haven't bought another game yet. I kindof wish I put more time into it though, I never did end up beating it. :( But I did play a bit of Battlefield 3 that my brother bought.

:sadvaultboy:

my story is sadly the same.... I just stopped playing Dead Island, because hacking zombies with a machete made me think of Skyrim and instantly made me lose interest.

I'm just bored with gaming in general at the moment. If Skyrim and/or KoA don't end up holding my attention I'll probably end up taking a long break for a while and enjoy my other hobbies and interests.

Nope, I'm not even excited for Skyrim in the least bit, in fact none of the games coming out really excite me since I've already got Battlefield 3 and Forza 4 :D
