Anyone else disappointed that you got nothing from Alduin's

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 8:43 am

Not sure if it's just me but the rewards given by finishing the MQ were fairly anticlimactic for me. I was expecting a powerful item of some kind or at least the opportunity to get an artifact from Alduin's body (was actually looking forward to seeing what I could get from his corpse the most). Apart from the "Call of Valor" shout etc., you really don't seem to be given much by anyone for finishing the game and ridding the world of Alduin. Anyone share the sentiment?

He blew up, what more do you want?
An artifact to put forth a taunt?
Is glory itself not its own reward?
Especially to that of a Nord.
For when we consider what we've done,
Did you not at least have fun?

It wasn't the lack of "stuff" off his body that got me - it was the total anti-climix of the fight itself. Compared to end-game in Morrowind (not Oblivion.... that was another fail) Alduin was.... a floor-wipe. I wanted an EPIC battle.... didn't happen. Another reason I'm not doing the MQ again. Once was enough.

[But yes, RainbowDaedroth, even though end-game was a bit of a let-down, I did have fun. Still am....)

At least you get a set of armor when you finish Oblivion.

It would be nice if Alduin dropped a special set of dragon bones which you can craft into a special weapon of choice.

I don't like the shout, I am materialistic. I want stuff!

The heroes of Sovngarde should give you something at the very least. You just did save the afterlife realm from the depredations of the soul-eater. Surely that deserves some reward more than a conjuration Shout.

The fight was quite anti-climactic. Alduin did hardly any damage to my character. And I don't understand why the three hero npcs were needed to help out. That diminishes your victory in a way.

Absolutely. Being that you get the Dragon armour in Oblivion...I was almost certain you'd be able to have something similar to the Oghma Infinium from Alduin's bones or soul etc., depending on the type of character you were going for. At least have some sort of relic which gives you a cooldown bonus on your shouts or something. I just....wanted SOMETHING . An object from his body to make me even more bad-ass. And as for the fight itself? I agree as well, too easy. Way too anticlimactic. It felt like fighting a slightly harder Dragon than I've fought in Winterhold...

Fighting the death lord draugrs before getting to Alduin was harder for my two-handed melee warrior because at times it was three against one or they'd use shouts on me and disarm me. As for not getting anything from Alduin's carcass, I thought I'd stuffed up when I could see the select key but not get anything so I loaded a save and did that part again. Same. :P

Same here. I want something that I can put on a shelf and say "I was there, I kicked Alduin's black scaly backside, and here's proof!". Every other questline gives you some sort of tangible reward, something you can show off (Archmage robes for the mages, Guild Master Armor for the TG, the Dawnstar Sanctuary for the DB, a bad case of fleas Ancient nord and Nord hero gear for the Companions, or Ulfric's/Tullius' armor for the Civil War). May not be great stuff, but it's something to show. The main quest gave me a shout. How do I put that on a shelf?

I stole the roasted oxhead from the Hall of Valor, but it just isn't the same.

The shout call of valor is useless ... I summon a guy he goes to fight he takes 1 hit of damage he dies im shoutless for how ever long it takes for the shouts to reload ... I beat the main quest at level 49

I'm not necessarily disappointed that I didn't get any loot from Alduin, I'm disappointed with the end of the MQ though. JUST like in Oblivion where we do all the heavy lifting and get no final boss fight, we end up going to Sovngarde where three warriors (who are only barely connected to the game) take the fight from us? That was bull. But even in Oblivion we got Dragon Armor (which looked a million times better than the dragon armor in Skyrim, btw), in Skyrim we get a summoning shout that is useless in comparison to my other summoning techniques. Overall, the Main Quest and Civil War Questline felt...lackluster in the end. I had fun, I still have fun with Skyrim...but I could have waited a few more months/a year for them to have fleshed out the MQ and CWQ more.

They could have given us the meteor shout and also a black set of dragon plate or dragon scale which you look very badass. The call of valor is turded. to think a nord hero from the afterlife would be able to kill a few dragur with ease but nope. The summoned nord heros die in like 3 hits.

As for Alduin i killed him without even getting hit and the other 3 didnt do [censored] lol. The giant nord guy couldnt even protect a kitty litter. I 2 shoted him.
