Ok so I went on my level 60 account as I had not played it in a while (140 hours on this character btw) so I loaded up the save and was in Whiterun, I left the city and continued on down the road for about a minute just then I heard someone screaming HELP! So I ran over quickly and it turned out to be a witch being attacked by a normal dog, so I helped the witch then engaged in conversation with her and she said she was on her way to the Temple of Kynareth (sp?) anyway I thought this was a great random encounter.

Then about 5 minutes later I was attacked by a Necromage and a Novice necromancer, I quickly killed my attackers and looted the bodies to find a "Scrawled note" so I read the note and it said; Malyn Valen's death will not go unpunished find the holder of Azura's star and enact vengeance or it will go your souls I rend for my enchantments. Anyone else had this?

On a side note just cleared Shimmermist cave for the first time and it was personally my favorite dungeon in game so far, I recommend it to anyone who has not visited it yet.
