And I haven't seen anything that would convince me she's evil. What NPC says she does not allow adoption? I did not get that impression. Also, beating those brats in Skyrim is certainly a good thing - come on most of you want to assassinate them and complain they are essential, while at the same time you consider Grelod evil because she only beats them sometimes? I don't get it. She trains them to not be brats, that has to include beating since it's an effective raising method (unlike modern no-physical-violence method which produces spoiled brats).



Heck, I think I'll use console to make her a companion. I can already picture it:

Alduin: *roar!*
Grelod the Kind: "You don't scare me."

She does have some rather large stones in the face of danger.

I was glad to get that contract. Even the pvssyr around town after she dies is that the kids are better off.

Talk to the kids. They all say she tells them they won't be adopted. You can overhear her saying that when you first go in. Asbjorn, Balimund's apprentice, says she told him his parents didn't want him.

Grelod is a dumb ol' hagraven who deserves to be six feet under. Saying nobody wants you and you won't be adopted is just wrong. Constance is also just as bad for doing nothing,.

if you open the door next to where the young women is standing there are shackles on the walls of the room. SHACKLES! That hag deserves to die.

Not fearless, cowardly, she picks on kids that can't defend themselves, ones that have lost thier parents or been abandoned by no fault of thier own, thier life hasn't been kind to them and she makes them personal slaves, demoralizing them as much as she possibly can.

If you think it's a good thing what she has done then go meet the Blacksmith of Riftens apprentice, even as an advlt he sees himself as completely worthless and unable to recognize that someone can see a natural potential and skill in him.

How anyone could see the way she treats people, let alone kids, let alone kids that have been left alone due to some tragic event, as a good thing or as training not to be brats would completely beyond me. It's closer to training them into subservient slaves that have no will of thier own or desire or self respect so they are worth more as advlts to be sold as.

well, to be fair you were able to willingly sell children into slavery for the equivalent cost of an ipod (or less actually) in fallout3, so i guess someone out there probably would also like grelod

I really am not going to evaluate whether someone should live or die based on the inhabitants of a corrupted town. Is there any actual info on what she does, from these inhabitants?


I did talk to the kids and there was no line that says she is against adoption, not that I remember. And if some kid was bad enough that she said "you won't get adopted" that might have been harsh reality, not spiteful pvssyr.

I do remember however her talk with that other lady, when she seemed sorrowful because no one has lately expressed a desire to adopt any of the kids.


Asbjorn supports my point of view. Grelod told him his parents did not want him. What seems to be the problem with this? Ah yes, the harsh truth that people here don't like. BUT Grelod then allowed his adoption, and now look where he is, in blacksmith's house.


So this entire no-adoption thing is BS.

What you call good I call evil. If most people knew what "good" is the world wouldn't be a living hell. You think someone is good if he has wings, smiles, and doesn't hurt anyone. And bad is someone who wears red and kills people. No. That's not my view. I think someone who kills a million people can be good. Including kids.

You clearly don't believe me so why don't you boot up your game go to riften go inside the blacksmiths and use the way dialogue works in this game (ie. just clicking on them will cycle though all lines without much repetition till they have no more new ones) and see several lines that are clearly written to show how badly shes demoralized this person affecting them badly in thier later life.

As for not seeing how negative Grelod is towards the possiblity of adoption, how about you use actual quotes that properly represent the way it is said rather then making it sound like shes just say it's not likely someone will take them in. I believe one of the lines is "No one would want you little brats", show me thier sploit brat attitudes if you won't even see that and are not being just a troll. Grelod is more the sploit brat having personal servants when shes the one thats meant to look after them not have them, even her help is scared of her and what someone looking to adopt a kid may result in for her job and safety, maybe she gets flogged 50 times for every kid that is adopted, it's clear Grelod doesn't want people in there and acts at any time of day that a person there is trespassing.

I kill Grelod all the time; my evil characters want to join the Dark Brotherhood and my good/neutral characters want to destroy it. Haven't played a character who doesn't have a reason to do either yet, since even if I'm not joining them they always try to assassinate me anyway.

Grelod isn't really evil compared to some of the other characters in the game, like Morvath or some Necromancers, but she mistreats the children and deserves at the very least a thrashing.

There was nothing wrong in the dialogue, and certainly nothing that would guarantee a murder. If you want to use "scared" as a green light for murder perhaps you should visit universities in my country at the time of exams (and sometimes during class), and talk to students. You would probably think it's a good idea to murder the professors then.

If those kids are anything like the forum posters here, Grelod deserves a lot of credit and kids deserve even more to be disciplined.

That is orphanage, not a nursery home, and Grelod is a tiger-mom not a pamper-mom.

So, you're claimining that

1. The dialogue only appears after 200 clicks on a NPC. Of course, since I am not going to click more than 20 times myself, I would have to "trust your memory" on that, which is a bit difficult considering how erroneous everything else was.

2. You're saying I should kill someone because the other person has low self-esteem because of that person. This is very strange, are you also saying that parents who go on a divorce should be murdered because child is going to have low self-esteem and not believe in permanent relationships? That a teacher that gives F should be murdered because a student suffers? That girlfriends/boyfriends who cheat should be murdered because the other side suffers low self-esteem? That anyone who says "you're fat" to a fat girl should be killed?


Of course, you haven't thought that out this far.. It only works in the case of Grelod right? Right.


Search numerous threads on this forum where people complain about spoiled kids in this game with their attitude, and how they want to kill them but can't because they're essential.

There, that's my counter-argument which is quite valid. Of course, those few kids in the orphanage only say "oh poor me, kill Grelod" so there's not enough information to conclude that they're spoiled brats also, which also means there is no information to conclude that what Grelod said is untrue.

You realize you're doing a great deal of good in killing her, right? It lures the DB to you, and you kill them all, thus ending the reign of vile assassins.

That's like saying you're on your way to kill Imperials because I like them. I'm not here to stop people liking Stormcloaks, I'm here to see if I didn't miss anything and it seems I didn't because everyone is acting emotional.

I'm on my way making her my companion. She's awesome.

You all can adopt the spoiled brats you like so much, and everyone is content.
