Yes and no. Yes since I have to wait to get light. No because its good everyone starts the same and then can choose to go heavy or light. Also will hopefully stop that initial rush of lights.

I agree with him
and if they start out Medain then Heavy. Thats great cuz they will hopefully find guns they love and wont pass them up to to be light
And just thought of this today. Do you guys really think that people will give up their noob tubes, high health, once they realize the knifes aren't OHKs?

They'll give up the lights once they realize their knives aren't OHKs and that a mere handful of rounds from just about anything will put them down quickly, plus the SMG isn't as powerful nor accurate as they believe they will be.

I'd like to believe SMGs and handguns can tear into Lights just as well as any weapon, and well enough against mediums, but against heavies there will be an obvious disadvantage using an SMG as opposed to an Assault rifle or shotgun, but what I'd like to believe and what actually will be are two different things. We'll see come release day. I trust in SD doing a marvelous job balancing everything so that it doesn't become a matter of the SMG not really losing anything to an AR. I feel there'd be little point in being a medium then otherwise, since the AR (if not the shotgun) looks to be their primary weapon of choice.

I plan to be medium, so I'm biased. I think the idea is to give everyone a middle ground to work with, so then they can branch out and have a median to compare to in terms of speed, maneuverability, survivability, and equipment availability. Also, for match making purposes, it would help if the newbs didn't have to go up against a ninja and a tank while just taking their first steps.

I agree
and thats what I ment to say about the lights, that people have this idea that they will be super fast, and deadly and own everyone
But the fact is EVERY size will be great at kill the other sizes.
Its all about knowing how, where, and when to strike. And how many teammates got your back haha

Am i right in thinking that once you hit level 7 with ANY character then you can start a new character at level one and make him a light?

So do you have to get each character level 5 and level 7 before they can be a heavy or light?

nope, once you unlock it once it becomes available for all of your characters no matter their level

Is this confirmed? And if so, source please? (if you can - I often have trouble sourcing my info)

I haven't heard any confirmation either way, but if this is true, it might make the low-rank matches even more unfair on actual new players being paired with experienced people building new characters.

I saw in video that said that newbs get an option to not play with experienced players.

That's based on character rank though... Tha'ts my point. Unless it's based on the MAXIMUM rank of your characters, in which case, late-joiners will have NO player base to work with, which will be worse than having pre-unlocked Lights and Heavies running around.

But if there aren't many new players, are they going to be matched other new players, and ONLY other new players (meaning nobody experienced to play against/with?)
Or are they going to be matched with experienced players who have started new characters, but have access to body types the new players can't unlock yet?

Or will the body types remain locked for characters below those levels?

Neither of the top two options make as much sense to me from a gameplay standpoint. The latter option would be preferable, for obvious and logical reasons. The BOTS don't get abilities the player doesn't have, why should OTHER PLAYERS get those abilities? Seems... broken, actually.

Just my opinion, unless you can think of a way they could balance it? Maybe I'm missing something.

There is no reason to be mad about about something that makes sense.

The devs said you will level up fast throughout the campaign or something like that.

Too bad. I hate to lvl max in a few days
I would like that lvl max need 1/2 week at least...
I don't want to create a 3 characters per week, otherwise levels are meaningless. I hope there won't be noobs at rank 5.
(I'm not a COD player and don't even quote that game, makes me puke. I'm from CS)

Ranks are meaningless. A good player can start a new char and own.
Others can just slowly spray and pray their way up the ranks.

I do not like levels in online fps, i do not mind them as much as other stuff though and if it only takes a week or two to reach max level, then so be it.
What i do like and hope for is stuff beeing made available after reaching certain goals, like an achievement system.

10 headshots give a special bandana (example) 100 give you a new skin for it.

Ayhow, onto topic. No i do not mind at all. Many people will stay with that char which is a smart move from Splash.
It also lets you learn the game on a balanced char before hopping onto the other variants.

As far as weapon customization goes for weapons I'll give you that but body type? No that wouldn't be unfair IMO cause... Well if it was only advantageous to be light or heavy no one would be medium lol but I do see your point

So they have said before that once you unlock a weapon/attachment for one character it is unlocked for all of your characters. Why wouldn't this be the case for body types as well?

I wouldn't say I'm mad at all

People who jump into the game thinking ''lol ninja mode light engage'' only to die over and over again wouldn't think the game was fun, no?

If they get the basics first, then they can develop themselves from that point, either heading towards the heavy-weight or the light-weight

I'm not mad about it, but that doesn't mean I agree with it. Plenty of games have thrown me in with no restrictions at all, and I've always done more than fine.

Am I mad about this?

Since I'm opting for the Medium body type anyway ... no.

I planned to play medium anyways, and personally believe this is a smart model, it forces people to start in the middle to maximize openness to either go heavier or lighter. I also believe more people would have a tendency to go heavy, with the larger kill everyone weapons. Unlocking light last gives it that forbidden fruit appeal, and once again, I'm sure myself, and others will find themselves playing light at level 7. It's a good spread to encourage play on all sizes.

It'll be advantageous for some players to be Light or Heavy. Neither will be "better" in an overall sense, but they will be better for certain playstyles.

If you're GOOD at being the heavily armoured tank of a group, and terrible at being fast and nimble, then the extra mobility of Medium will be pretty useless when some guy who unlocked Heavy body type in his last playthrough comes and ploughs through you, or when that Light manages to dodge around just enough to whittle your health down faster than your AR can wear him down - if only you had a Minigun...
