Anyone else notice a radiated Creature that is Missing from

im talking of course about the rattlesnake you mean to tell me that in the Fallout Universe ALL of the rattlesnakes in Nevada are extinct? wouldnt it make more sense to have them Mutated Like the Scorpions? im just saying if they wanted to make the wasteland look like it actually is Nevada (and ill say that they did) wouldnt it make at least a little bit of sense to include some other animals from that area other than just scorpions?

Rattlesnakes kind of exist, but in a modified form. They are called Nightstalkers now. And they are ugly.

There are only three or two radroaches in the game. Now that's weird.

yeah i know that but im talking about actual Rattlesnakes like the Timber Rattler or the Sidewinder an actual snake instead of a snake/dog hybrid im just saying that even though i know the game is a work of fiction is it to much to ask that if they code it based on places that exist in the real world that they also include fauna from the region they are generating?

I'm not sure how well a rattlesnake, or anything like it, would work with this engine. If you'll notice, most things run on two or four legs, and if they don't (ED-E, radscorpions) they tend to get stuck in things. Having something slither along the ground just wouldn't work.

What this game is missing is more Cazadores. I wish there were swarms of Cazadores, similar to RL locust swarms.

It may just be me, but I think the Nightstalkers are about the dumbest creature since the 1/2 spider 1/2 woman creature from Oblivion. I mean really, 1/2 dog, 1/2 rattlesnake? Someone must have been a little intoxicated when they came up with that. It's just lame IMO. ( :bolt: runs and hides...)

Snakes would indeed be awesome.

Unfortunately they're impossible in the engine for the same reason that all the elementals in Oblivion had to be humanoid rather than big amorphous bonfires: The engine only supports legged motion.

Unlike some other games it can support any regular number of legs, 2, 4, and 6 are all represented in-game, even one-legged motion is supported (securitrons) but no-legged slithering would cause a real issue for the engine I assume.

Fixed, and agreed...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drider rate at least a 9.8 on the "hackneyed stupidity" scale.

Mind you I liked the Nightstalkers...my agreement is solely about the lameness of half-spider half-humanoid critters.

Basically I hated all the stolen mythological creatures from Oblivion. Hey ancient civilization called, they want their ideas back...oh and they're filing copyright charges on your company.

Rattledogs sounds better. They even lay eggs.

you forget there are hovering enemies. They probably experimented with snakes that hover an unnoticible height above ground but whenever they went over uneven terrain it looked terrible or they kept getting stuck in rocks and things so they hit the 'make extinct' button and went back to the Mariposa Laboratory to create a substitute:

Rattledogs!

so the mutated rattlers had to grow legs to survive in a world where only legged motion is possible. makes perfect sense to me. Hence the mighty Ratttledogs...that lay eggs...

They didn't have rattlesnakes in FO3 so they couldn't copy/paste it into F:NV, bummer.

this is true, but I actually think hovering is implemented as "invisible monopod"

You'll notice ED-E still triggers ground-based traps unless you use geck to give him light step.

Though for some odd reason a Mr. Handy/Gutsy won't, dunno why.
