Even though the thalmor are with the empire, in my mind since my character is an almost god like being in skyrim after reunifying skyrim, my character will go on to destroy the thalmor, and purify the empire. Anyway, that's my two cents, what about you guys.

My view on the Stormcloaks is that they would weaken skyrim too much and that the thalmor would then overpower us.

My character hates the empire and the Thalmor for killing his parents so after joining the Stormcloaks to remove the empire from Skyrim he will continue with the plan to completely remove the empire from Tamriel.
Tamriel will return to the time when there was no empire and there will be little order and the provinces will be at war once more.

I havn't done the civil war yet on this file, but on my previous ones I just RP that the war is still happening and either side only needed my services to gain a stronger grip on Skyrim. My characters are never too keen on politics. So I always have them "forced" into fighting, like being imprisoned in one of the Capitals prisons and RP'ing that Ulfric or Tullius has requested my services in exchange for my freedom.

I have done both sides of the civil war, and the Stormcloak side for me, Is a LOT better, They may be a weaker force then the Empire for now, but they took over skyrim, They will soon enough be able to defend it against anyone, However, I cant see them taking the fight to the Thalmor without the empire moving back into Skyrim in full force...But who knows, if Skyrims anything like human history, weaker forces will have a chance of over coming greater ones. For RP, I would only do Stormcloaks with a Nord, and any other race for Imperials, just because the Stormcloaks are racist, and I dont see them letting in another race, and, I roleplay my Stormcloak character going with the Stormcloak beliefs.

on my character that finished the legion i started to do all quests that are against the thalmor and attack all of them who randomly run pass me.... so i basically start to weaken the thalmor now

EDIT: I also put me and my follower in legion armour and then we ambush Thalmor and such.
