Anyone have problems with saving on a PS1 memory card...

Post » Sat Sep 24, 2011 7:12 am

I have a PS2 Slim (scph-77004) and recently I tried playing a few PS1 games. Well, I can play them, but I can't save. The Slim console doesn't read my PS1 mem card (the memory card works though, I tried it on a PS1 console) during start up (I go to the browser section).

Strangely enough, some games read the memory card when I try to save, but then I can't load anything because it is corrupt or after a reset there are no saves, like they disappeared.

I've done some searching, it could be something to do because my PS2 Slim is a new version or something, and a lot of third party memory cards are blocked.

Anyone have/had a similar problem?

PS: My PS1 memory card is an official sony one. I've just bought a third party one from ebay this week, maybe a third party one will work.

I haven't played a PS2 since mine got stolen about five years ago.. So, forgive my fuzzy memory. Is it not possible to simply save your PS1 games to a PS2 memory card? I seem to recall doing that...

Sorry I can't be of much help. :unsure:

No, it is possible to save PS1 games on a PS2. You just need a PS1 memory card.

@Terash: I tried both slots.

The Card is probably just dying now... Things are 10+ years now :P
