Anyone know how the Jury Rigging perk works?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 12:26 pm

I'm working to port http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10183 to New Vegas at the moment, and it would be nice to have the repair lists for the DTO items properly expand if the player has the Jury Rigging perk. So far though I can't work out how the perk works. Looking at the 'Use Info' for the perk turns up (literally) nothing, and putting 'jury' into the Object Window filter doesn't appear to turn up anything relevant either.

Anyone know how it works?

I'm pretty sure it does everything automatically - it makes it so any Heavy armor can be repaired by any other Heavy armor, any Medium armor can be repaired by any other Medium armor, etc. Probably the same thing with weapon animation styles and the weapon's skill.

I don't know enough about animation styles to tell if this means anything, but I'd just like to contribute that Laser Rifles and Plasma Rifles cannot be cross-repaired.

anything that has "Set to Value" Value = http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1134380-anyone-know-how-the-jury-rigging-perk-works/1;

almost all the time it is hardcoded. same for mysterious stranger and etc.

There is one alternative you can do this without making a direct alteration. (It will take time)

you can use AddFormToFormList from quest stage to actually make this happen.

The use of it is hard coded, but I think all it does is hot swap the repair lists from normal to the more centralized lists. Like WeaponRiflesLIST.

Yep, looks like you guys are right. I had nothing in the repair list for Dragonskin Outfits but other Dragonskin Outfits, but when I tested it in-game, my character with the Jury Rigging perk was able to repair one of the outfits with Reinforced Combat Armour Mark 2. They're both classed as Medium armour, so maybe that is it. I wonder if anything else determines what it chooses...

Anyway, thanks everyone. :)

I think for Energy weapons cost or something must factor into it- you can fix the unique plasma rifle with laser RCWs but not laser rifles, when it shares a grip animation with both but an attack animation with neither.
