http://www.uesp.net/ and http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:First_Time_Players is a good way to start. Hope that helps!

UESP (unofficial elder scrolls page) is great. I bought the Skyrim Guide, but it's more of a collector's item to me than anything else. Still, UESP will answer almost any question you have. It's amazing, especially when you consider that site is chalk full of content less than 24 hours after the game is released.

The main thing about Elder Scroll games is that you have a huge, open world. There are no set rules. If you swing a one handed sword, your one handed skill will level up. If you open a lock, your lockpicking will go up. Your skills will level by using them. Once various skills have sufficient leveled, YOU will level up.

Just talk to people, listen to them, do quests or just explore. Who cares about a map, when the world is your playground? =p

But yea, if you have questions, definitely check the Wiki and UESP (linked by others above)! Plus, you can always ask around the forums or use the search function here.

Not to over simplify, (and yes there are probably guides out there), but the dual wield + heavy armor build is as simple as putting a weapon in each hand, wearing heavy armor, power attack, loot, repeat.

Just put perks in onehanded as they open up - ONE rank of dual flurry (second rank is bugged), and eventually dual savagry when you are high enough. Watch for stanima gear and food items that regenerate stanima (like vegetable stew) as you need stanima to do your power attack over and over. I'd say your stanima to health requirements are about 50-50, but I was closer to 60-40 (with a shield for certain fights)

Oh, and if you find heavy armor slows you down too much, get the steed stone active effect. You will get a big boost to carry ability and your armor will not slow you down. Later, if you feel like spending a LOT of perks in heavy armor you can get this same bonus through a perk, but it is high up in the tree.

My tank is a one handed + shield, but dual weilds against foes that are too dangerous unless killed right away, like mages. Very similar build minus the patience it takes to turtle through the fights with block ;)

This is one of the few games where id say buying the actual players guide is soooo worth it. Ya, its 30 bucks but its worth it.. They did a really good job putting it together.

I usually never buy players guides, but when i find myself getting lost in google searches for hours and not finding what i need. I gave it a shot and bought it.

And it was really worth it. Also gives you tons of ideas for more characters and what quest you should focus on.

Remember now, this isn't an MMO where you have to build the ultimate warrior, so you can enter Raid Parties LOL Just experiment around with the skills. Check the Skill builder I posted, it will also give you a description of the various perks for each skill. Don't sweat it. Just have fun!

Most of my toons dual wield, but I like LIght Armor for the mobility. But sure, you can definitely build a Heavy Armored Dual Wielding Warrior! Just put perks in Heavy armor and one handed skills.

I would submit that you will have much more fun figuring out things for yourself. Maybe not as much with learning perks and so forth, but I definitely urge you to try exhaustively to figure out puzzles before looking them up. It feels so much more rewarding to have solved it yourself. Most are pretty simple anyway, but there are some that can be pretty challenging.

The purchased guide is worth it's weight in gold - seriously. I have that. The apps that are available still need work. The guide is available, but need a lot of polishing up to be worth it. Not enough hyperlinks.....

Get the guide.... Seriously, it saved my butt more than once.

Most of the bugs are not addressed in the guide though. I say, explore and when you are stumped by something, use google! All the info is in the UESP, Wiki and/or here in the forums! ;)

The paper book guide is very good for these games. I get the hard covered edition so it won't fall apart from a lot of use. The electronic version in iBooks is huge and not very easy to use, even on an iPad so I'd stick to paper.
