Anyone messed with the FOV yet?

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 6:26 am

I just took 2 screenshots. One with 75 and another one with 90, there's no difference at all.

As you can see there's no difference. What am I doing wrong? I am changing the Falloutpref.ini fDefaultFOV=75.0000 to fDefaultFOV=90.0000 and there's no change at all in FOV.

You have to alter the default ini file which is the games main directory, inside the steam folder.

I already found the .ini folder. THe problem is that it doesn't seem to want to save my changes that I am making.

-edit- nvm I lied, thanks for info lol. Looks like I was using the wrong one, but now I am using the right one. It's saving my changes but there is no change occurring.

I just changed the Prefs.ini in the My Games folder, just like for F3. Works like a charm.

do I just change the fdefaultFOV to get changes? Cuz I changed the 1st person view and the pipboy view to 75 and i saw no difference.

So I changed fdefaultfov to 90 and I saw no difference in visuals again. I wonder if this is because of that dll hotfix for the npc lag.

if FNV is like FO3 FOV 90 may break the scopes abit in that the view when using one may not look right (the left & right sides aren't covered by the dark)

I believe the engine adjusts general FOV on its own, the fDefaultFOV value is for terminals, lockpicking, other 'interface' devices (like the SPECIAL machine at the beginning), and maybe binoculars.

This is most pertinent to high resolution displays, ordinarily you don't really need to make adjustments.

If you're interested, the Widescreen Gaming thread is here - http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=20661

And there's a thread on the hardware board here - http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1122530-multi-screen-resolution-support/

You should also make whatever changes you want to the default.ini in the Steamapps folder, since it seems to be overriding the other ini's at the moment.
