Hello ! I just bought New Vegas 30 minutes ago, I've played Oblivion and played Fallout 3, i'd guess you could say im pretty experienced, anything i should know about New Vegas ? Tips & Tricks maybe ? Thanks.

Just enjoy it, man. Best advice I have is to take it slow and not try to rush through the main quest, because it can be over pretty quickly if you want it to be.

Save often and in a new slot.

This, great advice.

When you start the main quest at a certain point, remember to READ any pop-up that might follow.

pick your friends/enemies early if youve read much of the forums you'll know you can ally yourself with factions. explore lots and try to unlock asmany locations before doing the main missions,ive had the game since release and im yet to finish it for 2 reasons,first was the dlc glitch after 140hours of play and second is cause i was so dissapointed with fallout3's retail version main storlyline length and kinda expected the same from this one.. Goodluck n have fun,pray youre one of the lucky ones who can play almost glitch free,crossing my fingers for ya cause this games got alot of potential

My advice is take your time, have fun, and be careful with your rep.

Have 3 save files for each character and save on all of them before you accept a quest, before you turn in a quest, after you turn in a quest, during key points during the quest, and every 5 minutes other than that. Also, do NOT go directly north to Vegas from your starting point.

Consider giving hardcoe a try, I've found it to be a great addition. And ... have fun!

When it comes time to join a faction, use your first playthrough to pick who YOU want to see control the Mojave, don't worry about what others say. It's your game, play it YOUR way

You're mixing up Vault 34 with Vault 11.

Play on a PC if possible, so you can get the community patch and all the other things that make the game run as smoothly as possible (4GB enabler). Either that or wait until the next patch comes out since it is actually supposed to fix many of the broken quests (sort of like what the community patch already does). If you are on a console, then try not to compare this with F3. It is not as good, but can still kill a few hours.

All mods needed can be found http://newvegasnexus.com/. Be sure to only get things that fix bugs for your first playthrough. Do not get ones that call themselves fixes, but change weapon damage to make energy weapons more powerful (just as an example). Why they are logically fixes, they are not actual since you are tripping over energy weapons from the very start of the game. Having a plasma rifle at 5 hours made me glad I had not put any points into energy weapons yet (aka did not benefit from it). Now if you find one that balances all the weapons (which is a necessary fix) then go with it.

definitely go with hardcoe, it's a much more fun experience for your first playthrough (mine has lasted 160 hrs so far).

also, just wander off into the desert and explore new locations, put off the main quest as long as possible as you will meet many interesting characters and find little parts of the story simply by exploring. Also, if you get the signal for Black Mountain Radio, tune your radio dial to listen - it's hilarious.

Research quests before you do them because it's a pain in the [censored] not to be able to do certain ones due to glitches and bugs.

It's more RPG and less dungeon crawler. A positive to some of us, a negative to others.

I did that for FO3 and I have to say I've been enjoying the quests a lot more in FNV by not researching any of them on the Wiki. There is something about the mystery of the consequences of my choices that makes the game more fun, even if I killed one or two people that prevented me from completing a couple of side quests or getting certain rewards.

I pre-ordered the game on Steam, so when I started there were not any walkthroughs created yet and I just stuck with it.

Pretty much the same advice as what has been said. Save, save, save and save often and in multiple files (not the same one all the time). And take your time. Explore. Find stuff and sell it to get caps. Don't be in a huge hurry to 'beat' the game because if you do you will miss out on so much. Talk to everyone you can to get side quests, etc.

Yes the game can have a few bugs, but if you are lucky they will not be game enders, just irritating. If playing on an Xbox or PS3 you might have it freeze now and then, usually after playing for hours so maybe it was time for a break anyway. If you are not one of the lucky ones and the game is unplayable, be patient as a patch is due out sometime in the next couple of weeks. For me all I have had is the occasional freeze on my PS3 and a couple of floating people, but only a couple in over 80 hours.

There is so much to see and do in this game, so again I say take your time. I have a friend at work with about 80 hours of gametime and he has yet to get to the Strip, and is loving the game. Good luck.
