anyway to change the color of an item using the ck?

I am assuming the answer to this is no. I am wanting to change the color of a waterfall, the only thing available that I have seen is the emittance lighting which only gives the waterfall a hue of whatever light you choose.

If my suspicions are correct and there is no way to do it within the ck, what would be the easiest way (in dummy peoples language) to go about this? one of the third party programs? nifscope? Blender? if so, is there any decent write ups on such a thing?

Admittedly, I couldn't model or texture my way out of a paper sack, but I did manage to recolor a Dwemer puzzle cube so http://i.imgur.com/Io6e6.jpg. I used Photoshop with a DDS extension and just replaces the red w/ green. There are bound to be other ways though...
