Appearance Slots

I am conflicted. In Skyrim, I want to progress and wear the best gear I can find or make. The problem there is however unless I like the aesthetic, I have to get a mod that will mod. In Daggerfall, you had a ton of item slots, and you could wear cloaks/clothing in tandem with your armor. Albeit this game is old, it allowed you a lot of options to customize the look of your avatar. I would love to see Appearance Slots introduced into Skyrim along with the ability to Tailor clothing and craft unique Appearance Slot items.

For those not aware of what an appearance slot is, it is this. If you put on say a Dragonscale Helmet, but cannot stand how it looks, in the Appearance Slot, you could put an Ebony Helmet. This means the model that is displayed (for you only) is an Ebony Helmet, however it is still counting it as the Dragonscale Helmet since you have the Dragonscale Helmet equipped in the Equipment Slot. Yes, I know there are no "Equipment Slots" which is why there would be a new menu option under Apparel of Appearance Items you can equip. This also allows you to retain the Light/Heavy armor Perk bonus while having the appearance of Mix/Matching Light & Heavy armor.

For all of you out there that want a helmet toggle, simple solution, there would be Appearance Slot head items that display little to no graphic which means now you can see the 40 minutes you just spent on the Brow Angle etc of your character and don't have to sacrifice the stats. (But this isn't logical!) Yeah, well it's a game guys.

Cloaks, Hoods, more unique weapon/armor models would be a very much welcomed addition.

Nope.

Because why? It breaks your lore having that option? It isn't logical, but somehow regenerating Health and magical dragons is?

agreed...at least let us change top and bottom pieces, armor sets are lame and take away from the RP. If my character wears the same thing as everyone else then where's the RP in this RPG?

I miss the extra slots. Maybe not Greaves and Pauldrons. What I really miss is the ability to put a Robe or a Cloak on over my armor.

Besides, it's cold in Skyrim, walking around in metal armor in that weather without a cloak or coat is kind of silly.

It's completely imbecilic. You're basically saying to wear one helm for it's stats, and then wear another helm on top of that for the aesthetics of that helm. It's just stupid.

Ah, so it is the "logic" argument. Ok, just making sure what camp of stupid you belong in so I can file you. Thanks for the clarification.

I'm not so sure about this idea, but I definitely wish there were more customization options for armor. You should be able to wear clothing over armor, and be able to dye that clothing to the color you want. I also wish smithing would give you the ability to make multiple pieces of unique armor (for example, you could make three different-looking steel plate helmets. The only difference is pure aesthetics).
