Applying different texture variants to 1 single mesh

Post » Sun Jun 17, 2012 3:04 pm

I want to create different textures for only one single object and have the different texture variants appear throughout the game.

I just wondered if this is possible with the CK and if so, how exactly?? Or is it possible by any other means perhaps?

I modified textures through a combination of Gimp, and Aorta, Aorta to change file types to alter in Gimp then change so it can be used in-game again... Well for Fallout I did. I used Gimp 2. I also used something from the Fallout mod manager to export copies of the textures (as well as meshes) into a folder on the desk top. I don't know how to copy Skyrim's texture folder though, I'm still waiting for information on that myself... So I don't know how good this info is for something like Skyrim but may help a little.

Can you create texturesets in the CK and then apply them to the models in each item you create? That's how it worked in the Fallout GECKs... but I haven't had time to dig into that with the CK.

You could use one single mesh to create several different items, each with a different texture (assuming that the process is still the same).

You can create a texture set in the CK that uses the same model, but provides an alternative texture for it.

you would normally create a TXST (texture set) that contains the paths for your variant textures.

and in the ARMA entry, i believe this is located under "skin texture swap"

be aware though, that even though the esp supports a texture swap for the world model (gnd nif), the option doesn't exist in the CK for the ARMO entry

also, in my experience prior to the CK, the texture swap system is bugged and doesnt work 100% properly. it doesnt even work in vanilla skyrim variant armors
