Archaic Weapons xD

Well irregardless. There probably would've been trillions of bullets stockpiled and of those billions would've been destroyed by the nukes. Even then there still would've been enough bullets to last for generations and generations of wastelanders. The stockpiles being used up every day in a war would take years for some civilian group to go through. Hell people would probably be able to make bullets again after awhile (like in The Pitt)

The point isn't so much that there would be a lack of bullets. Just a lack of a way to get bullets. There aren't any more cars/trains/planes, the only way bullets are getting from Factory/Armor X is by some enterprising ballsy dude who has to hack his way through the wasteland with his stash packed onto a brahmin trying to trade bullets for something without getting shot after he hands them over :P

Point being if someone wants to save resources or doesn't have anything to trade or never even comes into contact with a bullet mercahant they'd be stuck to their own devices. Even besides those points bows do have a most definate stealth advantage over guns. In many situations I'm sure a wasteland loner would prefer to make silent kills rather than alert peole for 5 miles around.

Bottom line F:NV is a RPG. It's a Post-apo RPG. And having bows would definately fit with roles I'd enjoy playing out.

Ah, what the heck.. <_<
Just give me some bows!
There's no reason there won't be any bows.
There are tribals :mohawk: , right? There maybe one or more tribes armed with bows...
Although bows are obsolete, it is perfect for silent kills and maybe for hunting animals (although it doesn't work for deathclaws)

I don't care about army surplus or 'reality', I want me some bows.

Or just a cross bow.

There are plenty of reasons to pick up a gun over a bow. but no reasons to banish bows completely.

In the wasteland it would be good for hunting saving you the amunition and supplies for those occasions when your really going to need a gun.

Agreed bows of some type should be in. No reason to exclude them really , its only logical some people would make bows and other weapons from antiquity.

I have to make the same guess as others, bows are most likly not in because it would feel to Elder Scrolls, they already had people saying Fallout 3 was Oblivion with guns, I think they wanna try and keep a clear gap between the two series.

I'm sorry but that is does not sound right. Tossing an idea just for similarities between two games? Do you think the Devs care if some whiney fans say its to much like oblivion. Whoopty doo!

If it was technical, i would understand. Some people might accept it, if lore explained why there are no bows, but that kind of answer is BS to me.

And since when was "Oblivion with guns" a bad thing?
Bethesda to me makes the best RPGs hands down. I would like them to tackle all genre of settings: space, antiquity, maybe a noir detective setting, hell anything really LOTRs or even Star Wars.

eh it wasen′t just the fans, almost all game review sites and magazines was calling Fallout 3 "Oblivion with guns" at one point or the other, so that is quite a wide spread image they wanna stay clear of.

I would [censored] a golden brick of joy the day Beth announced they bought the license for http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arcanum:_Of_Steamworks_and_Magick_Obscura and plan to do a FPS/RPG hybrid like the TES series/ Fallout 3

Sorry but anyone can review a game these days which basically means an opinion. You ever hear of Gaming journalism(not many brain cells required).

And I agree with Xarnac, whats wrong with being like oblivion? As long as the writing is alot better(with the addition of factions), I'm fine with it playing about the same. I know they want to create a seperate image and due to the engine and the same game mechanics thats not gonna happen. I just think excluding something that would be fitting in the setting and fun for some of us is the right way to go in seperating the image between oblivion and fallout 3-NV.

But sadly its not how all of us think and the mass of gamers who always urge the next game to be dramatically different because they become jaded to the layout.

Eh not really, the only reason it is or was called "oblivion with guns" by some people is simply because of the engine it uses and it's a open world RPG made by Bethesda.

They are completely different, the setting, the story, the atmosphere, characters, the lore, etc. Everything is completely different and to make the statement "oblivion with guns" is a simple minded one at best. It's like saying Dragon Age is a medievil KOTOR2...

So whoever thinks that putting a bow in NV would make it too much like "oblivion with guns" needs to straight up pull their damn head out of their ass n' start svckin up that oxygen. Bow's were in fallout before so why take it out just because of a bunch o' idiots, I'm sick of hearing about this lol.

Anyways I would be completely overjoyed to see the bow return in NV :fallout:

Bows with a high explosive skill and you could make "Rambo-esque" grenade arrows

During wars (world war/major wars) armies don't stockpile ammo. They send it out as soon as possible to the front lines. That's why I can't get any military ammo. It's all going to the military right now.

Just do what we do, buy Chinese ammo. :P

There is really no logical argument against the bow being included.

That being said, if they don't add it for whatever reason, I'd understand it's exclusion.

I think from a logical standpoint if follows that bows and other archaic weapons will be in FO3 simply because there are throwing spears. Throwing spears indicates a possiblity of native american type tribes. Raul is also labeled as Mestizo. If there's a tribe armed with spears they better be armed with bows too, especially since bows are the archetypcial Native American weapon. OMG what if we get tomahawks?!
