Archery compared to Dual wielding

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 7:16 pm

I'm starting a rogue and i want to get the best results possible, i was wondering whether archery or dual wielding is more effective or whether it's one of those things that's all down to personal preferrance. Also Just out of curiosity which do you find more enjoyable? :)

(Also, light armour or heavy armour?)

It is all down to preference. I use both Archery and Melee, Archery to soften them up from a distance, and Melee when I want to see the whites of their eyes.

Same with Armor, although if you are going to Sneak, Heavy will be a handicap. Whether that is good or bad is up to you. However, any armor style and or material can be made strong enough to handle the game. So, pick what you like on your character.

Well archery and sneak means you don't take damage. Dual wielding and armor (light/heavy) gives you good damage with a chance for cool finishers. Both are feasible so down to personal preference.

Before I would have said archery was better, but my newest character is dual wielding and I've enjoyed it immensely also, so... it's all down to personnal preference ;-) Both are sneaky type characters.

I would go with light armour. I just don't see the appeal of heavy armour myself (although might try it eventually). Heck, my dual wielding character is wearing only enchanted clothes now, no armour at all (was wearing armour at the beginning though). It's a great feeling walking around in clothes with just two daggers/swords. I'm playing expert, not master, and have the Lord Stone activated.

Use both, especially if your light armored. You can ping an opponent from a distance and the damage they take gives you an idea of how tough they are and whether they might one shot kill you. Useful when they are carrying a two handed sword.

It seems to me that as a Rogue you would use archery first, get their attention and than switch to duel weapons, and in a pure role play model you would have light armor for the Rogue character.

With my new character I try to get by with archery and conjuration, but if things get sticky, I end up dual wielding. In the long run, that's not going to be a feasible setup as I'll get molested in melee because I don't use it as a primary combat style, thus not leveling up my one-handed fast enough. At lower levels it still works though.

Dual wielding is far superior beause of the Elemental Fury shout, tbh. I might be biast because of the fact that I can't aim to save my own life.

I find it incredibly fun to use both. My rogue focuses on archery, one-handed (dual daggers) and illusion (invisibility). Sometimes I snipe people from afar with my bow, other times I move in and take them out from behind, and often I will mix it up.

That shout is insane. Although it doesn't work with enchanted weapons, but still...it turns your char into a blender. Together with the Dual Flurry perks you are a Cuisinart Food Processor.

Light armor benefits (the main one being +200% stamina regeneration rate) outweigh the heavy armor benefits IMO, especially for someone who dual wields. Basically dual wielding is the most offensive attacking style, so you want all the stamina you can to do those powerful 6x damage triple spin power attacks.

I found archery much more enjoyable, especially at lower levels. You really need to perk Light and 1H quite a lot to make dual melee work.

Not really, all you need are 4 perks to make dual wielding savage. The first 1h perk then the 3 dual wielding perks, all the other perks are just added bonuses. You don't need any Light armor perks for dual wielding, the stamina is very nice though ha .
