Archive Invalidation randomly giving up the ghost?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 10:42 am

So there's been this issue with my game where it seems that AII randomly shuts itself off ingame(or so it looks like), meaning I am all of suddenly getting pink hair, plasma rifles shooting exclamation points and mismatched land textures etc. Basicly, everything that's modded is FUBAR.
Any ideas what's causing this?

It usually happens after like 20 minutes of gameplay and everything in game looks like this:

I am using the old ArchiveInvalidation.bsa(renamed to AII!.bsa) from F3 which worked before and the SArchiveList path in my Fallout.ini looks like this:

SArchiveList=Fallout - Meshes.bsa, Fallout - Voices1.bsa, Fallout - Sound.bsa, Fallout - Misc.bsa, AII!.bsa, Fallout - Textures.bsa, Fallout - Textures2.bsa

Not sure if it helps but here's my load order:

Well this is odd... it seems like I came to the conclusion, albeit a weird one.

After reinstalling the game and all the mods I was enabling stuff one by one to see where's the problem.

Here I have these animation mods on bottom of my new load order:

Groovatron + components.(just changed the master to FalloutNV.esm, worked for me before this problem)
NB Story poses(same as above)
Backsteppo's Pair, Creature and Object poses(same as above)
Lost Rider's New Vegas 'Few More' and slave poses

Now if I enable Groovatron and the components(that's 4 .esp files) and 2(!) additional .esp animations only, everything works fine. BUT if I keep adding another, I will suddenly get exclamation points everywhere and game then crashes.

EDIT: God, I think I got it. It seems like I've hit some sort of a mod cap or something. When the mods exceed the A1(that's after 99-9F in FOMM) mod order, I start getting exclamation points and stuff...

This is quite weird because I did NOT hit the 255 data files limit at all..

Yeeeeesh, it started only with some essential bugfixes... then I saw the weapons... the armor.. the teddy bears... and my vanilla NV was over. :cryvaultboy:

Anyhooo, I still can't wrap my head around the mod limit. It was 255 in F3 and Oblivion right? Does my PC performance actually affect this too? Memory perhaps?

Fairly certain I'm running quite a bit more. I believe I had something like 500 mods in Fallout 3, obviously I had to get creative with merging stuff together to bypass the esp. limit.

I've had a similar issue, though only with ground textures. Basically they look absolutely horrible, they look like LOD textures, and then after a while they load properly and look fine. I have no idea what causes it though.

I get weird graphical glitches at times as well; what type of video card do you use? My issues are usually related to my card (as it is a little bit faulty wrt memory), sometimes minimising/maximising will solve the glitches as it redraws.

Geforce 320M GT, with 1 gig of memory.

Actually, when I got rid of some unnecessary mods thus lowering the mod order number, the problem *went* away. Apparently. But this mod limit is so... confusing! :brokencomputer:

On an archive invalidation, was there a recent update? I noticed my invalidation no longer works, when I was updating it. Sadly, I didnt backup my old ini file.

The Groovatron_DLC_Pitt_Addon.esp
The Groovatron_DLC_PL_Addon.esp

You're using add-ons for FO3 DLC in NEw Vegas? Is that because New Vegas includes some DLC content?

There is a mod on nexus that adds dlc content to new vegas. With one caveat, you have to own the dlc. You do a wee bit of file shuffling, and the modder adds it into new vegas, with a few tweaks where necessary to get it working.

I don't think there was an update whatsoever. I only know that the latest official NV patch broke the old SarchiveList order, so I had to use the one mentioned in my first post.

Yep! Well only the animations for Groovatron. I was kinda surprised at the fact that NV even included the hillbilly dance from Point Lookout and the rest of the animations from all DLCs.

Anyway, this problems seems to be back. Exclamation marks for modded stuff popping up everywhere :(
I just.... don't get it. I cut off the animations from the load order, that's like nine files.

And exclamation marks went away.... how am I supposed to understand this? Does this mean that *something* keeps devouring my New Vegas and lowers the mod limit or what? :o
