Archive invalidation

Post » Fri Feb 11, 2011 11:26 am

So i got the new patch for NV(1.2 or whatever) and now i can't play if i turn off archive invalidation .. I am playing with 60+ mods and maybe 10-20 of them don't work without it so i was wandering am i the only one with this problem and is there a way to fix it ? Haven't played in a few days because of it and most mods that i like in the nexus require it, so i can't get new mods too ...

Change the name of the AchiveInvalidation, it will work fine after that, dont forget to update the ini to reflect the name change.

i renamed mine to Fallout - Mods.bsa (pretty catchy isn't?) , here is what it looks like in my fallout_default.ini
SArchiveList=Fallout - Mods.bsa, Fallout - Meshes.bsa, Fallout - Voices1.bsa, Fallout - Sound.bsa, Fallout - Misc.bsa, AII-FNV!.bsa, Fallout - Textures.bsa, Fallout - Textures2.bsa

Actually it didn't work ... wrye bash changed the settings to default and thats why i didn't get the error.The problem isn't the name of the file, but whenever "bInvalidateOlderFiles" is set to 1 and not 0 the game crashes on loadscreen :(

Are you editing Fallout_default.ini which is in the game folder or are you editing Fallout.ini/FalloutPrefs.ini ? i find it odd because i'm playing with the last patch with bInvalidateOlderFiles set to 1 and no crashes..

What worked for me is this:

1. I had to edit fallout_default.ini (in the game folder) because I'm starting it from the launcher, to be sure edit both fallout.ini and fallout_default.ini
2. Since the newest patch it seems AII won't work when you add ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated!.bsa to the front list as instructions say
3. What worked for me though is to put it at a later position but still BEFORE the first Textures.bsa (you can copy one of the sound bsa to the front), like this:
SArchiveList=Fallout - Voices1.bsa, ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated!.bsa, Fallout - Textures.bsa, Fallout - Textures2.bsa, Fallout - Meshes.bsa, Fallout - Sound.bsa,  Fallout - Misc.bsa

4. Alternatively what I read will work is to rename it to something like "Fallout - AII.bsa" and change the ini accordingly

Fallout - Mods.bsa being the AI but still doesn't work .. I tried reinstalling the game etc. and no result

Just in case, are you sure it's linked to ArchiveInvalidation?

Maybe one of your mods is missing a master, or otherwise corrupted?
Have you tried disabling all mods and, should it work, reenabling them one-by-one?
