Archmage quarters containers suddenly unsafe

PS3, level 57, 300+ hrs of play

My Archmage quarters did a sudden partial and very unwelcome re-population: the garden suddenly full of new ingredients; all barrels, 2 of the 3 wardrobes, the long chest, one of the 2 display cases, and some large sacks suddenly emptied of all my stuff and left just a few gold coins. One large sack, the small wardrobe with the display case on it, that display case, and the safe were still okay, not re-populated.

A couple hundred hours ago I delibereately stayed out of the quarters for 31 days to see if the place would re-populate. It did, without disturbing any of my container content. But since then I've never been away from the quarters for more than 3 days. No problems, until yesterday. Fortunately I could reload a save from yesterday AM and all is okay now -- except that all the loot and accomplishments I'd done since that earlier save are now gone.

A few days ago I bought and fully equipped Breezehome (my first official house), stored some ingredients in it, and then moved them back to my archmage quarters, which was still okay at that time. Is it possible that doing this could mess up my Archmage quarters containers? Like, "no houses allowed if you live in archmane quarters?"

Or, is it possible that simply playing the game for well over 300 hours glitched things up somehow? (I don't exploit cheats and gliches, because I know from Oblivion experience that that can cause major problems.)

Anyone else have this happen with the archmage quarters? Anyone have any ideas?

This is a glitch.

What happens in this game is sometimes cells do not render correctly. The fix for it usually is to save the game, exit out, then start it back up again and reload. However, with containers resetting, that may not be the best way to fix this issue when it happens.

So, I doubt this will happen again. But, loading an earlier save is the best, as you have done. And having lots of save slots. You can always delete excess ones later.
