Why can't I disenchant this?

Some enchantments are learnable (via disenchanting). Others are not. The archmage robe is one of those which isn't, presumably because it would be overpowered and remove the uniqueness - the archmage's robe should be a unique and uniquely powerful artifact, available only to the archmage, not something that you can easily duplicate.

That said, I believe I've seen a couple mods which make it disenchantable. Go check Skyrim Nexus and have fun if you're so inclined.

Ok thanks I was just curious and I play on PS3... Do you know if the trade off for its benefits or for a high armor class is worth it?
