I am a 360 achievement [censored]. I try to get every single one for every game I play.

Are they useful? Absolutely not. They do... absolutely NOTHING.

I don't brag about my gamerscore so calling it bragging rights isn't even applicable for me.

I can't help myself. I see the achievements and I NEED to unlock them.

I need achievements like a heroin addict needs heroin.

Achievements were invented as a sop to console gamers to make up for poorly designed games.

Games have come a long way since then—even for consoles :hubbahubba: (not lookin' to start a war here) but Achievements have tenaciously hung around like an appendix (another useless appendage.)

Sums it up nicely.

I'll say "Yes", as all challenges at least give you a bit of experience. Some actually give you a bonus perk for acheiving them.

Achievements are totally worthless.

In fact, I really wish game developers would go back to using points. I wants me some high scores to beat!

Since they give Experience Points and or some small Perks, they have some use.

However most of the ones I have gotten, I would have recieved anyway just playing through the game. I have not played a game to get an Achievement or a Challenge. To me, the Challenge in the game is playing the way I want to play and getting the results that I want. Fortunately, in this game, things do not always work out the way I want, so I get to go back and do some things a different way.

I would like a way to turn them off as an option.

Yep. Utterly useless aside from bragging rights. Which is to say, utterly useless.

Indeed, I never knew why the got so popular, with the console base.

Achievements and trophies are pretty much Viagra for e-peen, and for giving those with low self esteem something to put in a fancy "gamer card" signature on game forums...

Wasn't there a point early on in XBox Live history where achievements actually earned you MS points though? I'm a PS3 player so I don't know for sure...

Take that back! My Xbox Gamerscore of 25482 means something... Doesn't it?
Oh god my 42235 means nothing aswell?

What have I done.

Afraid not. The guy trying for a full million might get something though

Edit: I remember when I made a topic on the Box game score last year and what you could do with it. I got quite a few people to laugh with my response.

Wait, you make references to Skooma in pop culture? Or do you mean you make references to pop culture with the reward being Skooma?
