If you wanted them to be better you shouldn't have gone with 1 charisma.

Cass dominates with a fully moded Hunting Shotgun with a pile of slugs. Soloed a five man Legion Assassination team while I was busy with tunnel vision in a scope. She seems to enjoy head shots.

Yeah, it does actually make a pretty huge difference. On my 10 cha character, 1 shot kills on most stuff. 1 cha, i'm lucky if they do any damage in a fight.

Yeh, it determines their nerve. The higher the char, better the nerve. Better the nerve, they're better, i guess.. :touched:

I have 1 charisma and tried all companions. They seem to do well enough compared to my friends 5 charisma followers.Never had a problem with speech challenges either.Too rich to worry about barter...money is plentiful in this game.

The game isn't difficult enough to justify min/maxing anyway.

Just put points in what you want to put points in, you should do fine if you don't svck. My first char had 7 charisma and I didn't feel like he was weak at all.

tbh over all charisma is agreed by most experienced players to be crap.Hell the nly thing that u cant use books or points to gain the benefit of chari is nerve and even then its not worthy of the most important points youll ever have ingame

This isn't the kind of game where it matters how refined or perfect your stats and skills are.
This is the kind of discussion one would expect to see in a World of Warcraft (or similar online RPG) forum.
You could get through the game without any trouble using completely randomized stats, if you wanted.

Veronica one shot kills most enemies with her Power Fist. She only seems to have trouble with Cazadors and Deathclaws. This is with 1 Charisma by the way.

My character seemed like he would have a high charisma due to his personality.
So I gave him high charisma.
Now Veronica is a beast in combat.

It is?

Because No. Its very dependant on your playstyle. I'm currently playing a guy with low strength, low agilty and low endurance and the only thing that keeps me alive are my allies and CHR

Arcade is better than Boone with 1 Charisma for me.
Boone just misses all the time.

Raul can be pretty badass with practicaly every gun.
Veronica is badass if you get the mod that fixes her levelling.
Rex knockdowns almost every target, effectively taking them out of the fight - quite badass.

Charisma is crap no matter what your playstyle is. The only reason you arnt having a hard time is because FNV isnt difficult in the first place.

+20-30% bonus won't be much with their default armor and weapons, but once you customize them with unique end-game weapons, that extra few points of charisma suddenly seem to start mattering quite a lot.

Cha 1 means you need to fly it yourself more often. Cha 5-6 means they will be very helpful on regular basis. I stopped dumping Cha once I moved to hardcoe. :-) Now it's 4-5 on my characters.

It also seems there are a lot more Barter and Speech checks in the game than there were in FO3, which means Charisma isn't really the dump stat it used to be. Depending on how you play of course. But I think my next character is going to be one Classy Dame and see how different the game goes with schmooze.

I have a rather hard time actually. I have a very hard time, still have. Then again I wander off the given path alot.

And I think I know what my own experience is thanks.

(Also the extra starting points come ALOT in handy in dialouges.

Someone posted the Charisma chart from the Guide that lists Companion Nerve under Charisma at the 10 levels and there's a big difference in +5 Damage at CHA 1 level up to +50 Damage at level 10. I went for more Charisma this game after learning about all the Factions so I wanted to be able to negotiatie. I'll choose higher CHA for my next game too but I didn't know about Companion Nerve. Maybe someone knows where that chart is?

It always cracks me up when people have to convince others that there's a right and wrong way of building your character or playing the game. Different strokes for different folks. Charisma is not the most needed stat in this game, but the Nerve rating helps give a benefit to those that allocate extra points to it. Think of it more along the lines that having a higher charisma makes your standard companions better.

So you agree with me and then claim im trying to state what your experiences are? Perhaps you should work on your reading comprehension.

Which is what my point is. Charisma is a trash stat no matter what you want your playstyle to be. I never said his build is wrong because he has high Charisma or whatever. Again, see above.

Although Charisma may still not be a priority SPECIAL to put points into, it is still alot more useful than it was in Fallout 3. My first playthough I had it at 5, and that alone made Boone a badass until I had to kill him.
