Are my diplomas worthless?

It's so tough out there. So many people looking for work, so little jobs. I have completed my schooling, but I don't have my diploma, so I don't get the work because there is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO many people out there who do have a diploma and WORK EXPERIANCE. So yes it svcks you don't have the work experiance, but it imagine how much more tougher it would be to get that job, with no work experiance and NO diploma?

So depending on the job you want, yes you need both. Lots of jobs that don't ask for Collage diplomas, DO ask for Highschool Diplomas though. So just try and get a job you want in your field without a HS diploma and or Collage diploma.

Lately from what i'm seeing on the news, reading online, etc... i'm starting to get the feeling that my HS diploma and my Associate In Arts Degree from college are as good as Toilet paper. I'm barely lucky to see even 5 maybe 10 job postings in my area and yet every single one wants a person with atleast 2 to 3 years of experience. Sadly I was spoon fed the usual cavalcade of material saying "A HS diploma will get you a job" and "College Graduates earn more than people with HS Diplomas" yet I see nothing. I've sent out resumes, applied for jobs, been interviewed and yet it feels like all of what I was taught was worthless. The only thing that seems to matter is experience in this world with me missing the boat on that one.

Anyone else get this feeling lately where what you learned is worthless and the only thing that matters is "Experience" when it comes to a job?

I've worked at a few Fortune 500 companies and I would say that relationships are very important to getting the job you want.

If you don't know anyone in your field or have a network of contacts and friends in your industry that you are connecting with on a regular basis, its going to be a lot harder to find out about new openings or to get your resume to the top of the pile.

If you dont graduate high school you dont have much of a chance of getting a good job. The best you could do is become an entreprenuer and a large majority of entreprenuers are unsuccesfull.

If you aspire to get anything above a minimum wage job you at least need a high school degree.

Right now i have graduated hs and im halfway through getting a bachelors in business. I work at a sandwhich shop over summer but theres no way i could make enough money to live out on my own on what i make there..

My plan is to go to our career center to find some possible internships and apply apply apply.

I also have no experience, and i agree networking seems like the best thing we can do to get a decent job, but also i expect it wont be easy to get a good job. We're gonna have to go above and beyond and really put a lot of effort out to get something.

A high school diploma is worthless, unless you don't have one.

I've never heard of an associates degree, but a Bachelor of Arts is pretty much the most common degree out there, because it's so broad.

You really need a more specialised degree unless you've got experience, and even then a recent graduate isn't likely to get much more than an entry level position.
If you need experience, do volunteer work, it's much easier to get a position and looks really good on a resume.
