Are the Dark Brotherhood quests suitable for a good characte

Post » Wed Jul 11, 2012 10:05 pm

I've just started my good character play through and I am just about to start the DB quest line; do the DB quests go together with a good character? I'm doing the thieves guild but not sure about joining a group of murderers for hire.

thank

If you are thinking about that you get more contracts like grelod then no.

As astrid said "good? evil? irrelevant all that matters is that you follow my orders to kill."

The fact you're doing the thieves guild quests kind of eliminates the claim you're doing a good character. Restoring the thieves guild to glory itself involves a lot of theft, and the DB stuff is worse.

If you want to do a good character, you might want to consider what I did:

Female Imperial, 1hand/Shield, Heavy Armor, Restoration, Archery, Enchanting, and Smithing. I RPed her as an empire agent sent to Skyrim to recover all of the Daedric artifacts to bring them back to Cyrodiil to keep the Thalmor or Stormcloaks from getting them. Sure I had to kill a few people, but I was following orders in the name of the empire, and never stole or killed needlessly.

I got her to 32 just doing those quests.

Not really, but considering the appalling lack of factions for 'good' characters, if you want the most for you money you'll have to play it, or create another character.

I find it's hard to limit yourself to content in Skyrim, as there is not simply enough to do that kind of thing, so I would go for it. They should have had an opposing guild for each of the factions, with unique quests, that would help, the silver hand for the companions, for example

No, not really. Assassins cannot be good aligned, neutral at best (the tool viewpoint- or the merc viewpoint)

The Dark Brotherhood is definitely not a faction for a morally good character to join. I thought I could make it work once I started doing the quests, but trust me when I say that there is no viable RP to justify what you are doing. When I played Oblivion, I could've swore that the Dark Brotherhood in that game had a sort of Wanted feel, where you were assassinating for the greater good (kill one save a thousand, yadda yadda) but there is no shred of that in the Skyrim Dark Brotherhood. In fact, the whole organization is extremely weird. You are all basically murderers but you are also all friendly with each other. It seems extremely disparate to me.

The Thieves Guild is also hard to justify for a good character, because a lot of those quests don't follow a Robin Hood type of appeal and the guild is frequently reffered to as a band of cut throats with no honor, so... yeah. I stick strictly with the Companions and Mages Guild for my characters. With the addition of the Dawnguard, they are the most good friendly organization, so there is another source of quest material. Be warned though, Dawnguard is buggy at the moment, go check out the Dawnguard thread for more info.

No I hated becoming an assassin i like you want to stay a hero and do good, HOWEVER; I did the DB quest for 1 reason only SHADOWMERE the horse is given to you. She is amazing and Immortal *ALMOST* she is loyal and never runs away when you dismount she comes everywhere and i do mean everywhere up steep stairs on ships etc,,, to save you if she feels you going to be attacked. She has saved my butt more times then i can count, she is the only reason to do the DB quest if you truly want to stay good character.

Is killing evil? No, not always, but neither should it be the go to solution. However, when diplomacy fails, well, you've only got the one other option.

Is killing people for money wrong? Yes. I also find the attempt to place the responsibility on the client to be fallacious. A man is not a tool, he may think and act for himself. If you want to relegate yourself to a puppet, then you are merely a puppet, you cannot pick and choose when you are or aren't.

You can justify every kill depending on your point of view. But if you are an imperial it'd be a tad harder.

This. But I consider my character neutral and I am in the Dark Brotherhood so.

Are you trying to convince us that a hitman isn't an evil murderer? haha Assassins are murders. Just because someone hires you to kill someone doesn't make it ok. I can't believe someone is trying to argue this point. :P

OMG assassins are [censored] evil. Why are people debating this. The only evil target you kill is Gerlod from Riften, all the rest seem innocent.
